The Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architectures, policy and strategy, technology development, warfighter capability enablers, systems integration, defense industrial base, and threat reduction to help shape existing and future space missions across the national security space (NSS) enterprise. DSG is unique at Aerospace as it not only directly supports major customers, including the U.S. Space Force, U.S. Space Command, Air Force Material Command, and senior leadership at the Pentagon, but also provides a broad range of technical support across the national space enterprise, maintaining vertical responsibilities with customers’ portfolios as well as horizontal, matrixed responsibilities across the corporation. Additionally, DSG provides deep technical expertise to the Space Force Space Systems Command (SSC) in the conception, design, acquisition, launch and operations of satellite, launch vehicle, ground control, and range systems. The Enterprise Ground Systems Engineering team is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer with expertise in integrations and developing requirements to manage space superiority programs. The ideal candidate will combine technical knowledge of systems architectures with proven agile systems engineering and program management practices to deliver scalable, high-performance solutions.

Requirements

  • Communication Systems & Systems Engineering - Acquisition Bachelor’s degree in science, mathematics, or engineering discipline
  • 12 or more years of progressively responsible professional experience leading to some level of technical and/or systems engineering program management
  • Broad technical background and program experience. For example, end-to-end concept to final delivery is a significant plus
  • Experience with phases of systems development to include: system trade studies, enterprise system requirements development and allocation, hardware integration, test planning and reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain trusted relationships with government customers, SETA contractors, and key stakeholders under minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work adaptively on multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to travel domestically, approximately once every other month
  • This position requires a current and active Secret security clearance and the ability to obtain a TS/SCI, which is issued by the US government . US citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

  • Program office and management experience; experience directing matrixed technical support teams
  • Hold current TS/SCI clearance

Responsibilities

  • Provide interdisciplinary technical leadership to Integration Teams supporting Space superiority efforts
  • Working with the customer and contractor teams on enterprise requirements development and allocation and test planning
  • Giving guidance to customer and contractor teams on systems engineering practices and model based systems engineering activities
  • Executing technical assessments and identifying technical gaps, risks and issues
