The Sr. Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, integration, and 24/7 maintenance of high-availability infrastructure across physical, virtual, and cloud environments. This role manages a hybrid ecosystem of 200+ virtual servers, ensuring 100% uptime for business-critical services, SQL clusters, and SDLC lifecycles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science and a minimum of six (6) years of experience (or eight (8) years of equivalent experience).
  • VMware ESXi 8.0+ (Advanced)
  • Windows Server 2022 (Advanced)
  • Microsoft Azure (Intermediate to Advanced)
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, Cisco, and Palo Alto Firewalls.
  • PowerShell or Azure CLI for automation.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • MCSE or Azure Solutions Architect Certification

Responsibilities

  • Manage and scale 200+ virtual servers across on-premise (VMware) and cloud (Microsoft Azure) environments.
  • Administer VCenter, ESXi hosts, VSAN, and Dell storage arrays (VxRail/PowerStore).
  • Provision VMs, manage Storage Accounts, Entra ID (Azure AD) sync, and configure Network Security Groups (NSGs) in Azure.
  • Build and maintain consistent DEV, UAT, and PROD environments to support developer efforts and SQL Server clusters.
  • Utilize LogicMonitor, SolarWinds, and ManageEngine to proactively ensure system health.
  • Execute monthly automated patch management and security hardening baselines to maintain compliance.
  • Deploy software and client agents via PowerShell scripting and automated deployment tools.
  • Manage Active Directory (AD), including GPO, DNS, DHCP, and schema upgrades.
  • Act as a key point of contact for DR failover testing and live emergency response.
  • Manage enterprise-wide backup solutions (Veeam) across M365 and cloud vaults, including archival to LTO tape.
  • Review system logs to provide deep-dive analysis and permanent solutions for recurring issues.
  • Perform systems forecasting (storage, cloud compute, data center footprint) to accommodate future growth.
  • Act as the lead for large-scale rollouts and complex migrations; mentor junior engineering staff.
  • Translate complex business requirements into technical solutions, analyzing cost, risk, and feasibility.
  • Serve as the Tier 3 point of contact for critical P1 outages and vendor coordination.
