About The Position

Our client, a world leader in life sciences and biotechnology, is looking for a “Systems Engineer II/ Sr Systems Engineer” based in Pleasanton, CA. Job Duration: Long Term Contract (Possibility Of Extension) Pay Rate : $80/hr on W2 Company Benefits: Medical, Paid Sick leave, 401K We are seeking a Senior System Engineer to support the development and integration of next-generation diagnostic solutions. The role will focus on integrating instruments, molecular diagnostic workflows, software, and data pipelines across multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
5+ years of relevant industry experience.
Hands-on experience with instrument and software troubleshooting/integration.
Experience with IVD, molecular diagnostics, or diagnostic instrumentation preferred.
Strong knowledge of system testing, requirements, verification/validation, and root cause analysis.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice To Haves

Experience with NGS/sequencing, qPCR, dPCR, sample/library preparation, or bioinformatics.
Experience with cloud-based systems.
Scripting/programming experience, particularly Python or Java.

Responsibilities

Lead system integration across end-to-end diagnostic workflows, including sample preparation, library preparation, qPCR, digital PCR, sequencing, and data processing.
Define system requirements and contribute to system testing, verification, and validation (V&V).
Develop and execute test cases and analyze results against system requirements.
Troubleshoot system issues, manage defects, and perform root cause analysis.
Create and maintain system requirements, specifications, integration plans, and verification documentation.
Identify opportunities for workflow automation, simplification, and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with assay, software, hardware, bioinformatics, and cross-functional engineering teams.
