About The Position

Ampcus Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Sr. Systems Engineer to join their talented team. This is a night shift role with potential for schedule updates after joining. The position requires a BS in computer science or equivalent degree, and 3-5 years of professional software development experience using Enterprise Java technologies. The role involves complex analysis, design, development, testing, and debugging of computer software, establishing project standards, and breaking down software requirements into highly complex systems. The engineer will also provide direct technical support for critical trouble calls and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

BS in computer science or equivalent degree
3-5 years of professional software development experience using Enterprise Java technologies
Minimum 3 Years APIM experience is Needed along with Production support Experience.
Minimum 3 years of Java experience in the development of Java/JEE enterprise applications using JEE, Spring, Hibernate, Web Services, RESTful, AJAX, JSON, SQL, JUnit, and Maven
Experience with Frameworks including Spring MVC, Spring Batch, Spring Boot, Spring Integration, Spring Security, Hibernate, MyBatis
Solid experience with HTML, JavaScript, CSS, AJAX
Experience with Java Script frameworks–Angular, React, JQuery
Creative, motivated, focused, passionate, results-oriented
Demonstrated ability to write efficient, clean, readable and reliable code
Excellent troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills
Independent, self-starter, & team player
5 years’ experience with software development, basic coding and compilation, software architecture/design, user requirements definition and software specification development.
Must be available for OVERNIGHT shift
Must be available for rotating WEEKEND shifts.
Must be available to come onsite for 2 - 3 weeks of training
Must be available to come onsite (DC or Reston) for a second round interview

Nice To Haves

Experience with Spring Integration technology would be a big plus
Experience with Big Data would be a plus
Experience with various security protocol or framework/tool would be a big plus – SSO, Oauth2, IBM WebSeal
Ability to communicate technical requirements to all levels of expertise
Advanced Knowledge and understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC)
Advanced Proficient with integrating complex and/or existing systems
Advanced Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. JavaScript, C, Python, etc.)
Advanced Knowledge of cloud technologies (e.g. AWS, Azure)
Proficient Knowledge of database technologies (e.g. cloud, SQL, Oracle, Mongo DB, PostgreSQL, etc.)
Advanced Fundamental knowledge of software engineers’ best practices, agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines
Advanced Knowledge of test-first practices including Test-Driven Development (TDD) for unit tests and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) for automated acceptance tests
Advanced Strong experience with Deployment/Continuous Integration/ Continuous Testing/ Continuous Delivery processes and tools and have expertise in CI/CD tools and framework
Advanced Knowledge of Code quality and promotion practices

Responsibilities

Perform technical detail design, coding, testing of applications.
Serve as subject matter expert for customer and internal discussions related to maintaining and enhancing existing software systems.
Develop and/or analyze interface design documentation.
Comply with hardware and software systems standards and procedures.
Deliver large systems for tens of thousands of users.
Comply with code quality, migration and dev/ops standards and policies.
Perform software analysis, including requirements and use case development and design.
Implement and document source code to design specifications.
Perform software testing including developing and running automated unit tests, drafting, and executing structured automated test cases.
Compile, assess, and report data results from software testing and analysis.
Develop software solutions for enterprise environments and other technologies.
Analyze and implement functional and non-functional (e.g. performance, availability) requirements and designs, implement, and test software.
Perform operations & maintenance (O&M) of existing systems.
Identify areas for improvement and streamlining.
Assist in the estimation of development of application features.
Provide direct technical support for high level, high visibility and critical trouble calls for supported applications.
Work with cross functional teams to develop highly reliable software that runs at scale.
Provide recommendations to infuse new technology.
Extend open-source libraries and systems as necessary to meet the needs of the team.
Play a crucial role in product scoping and roadmap / architecture discussions.
Continually evaluate emerging technologies to identify opportunities, trends, and best practices.
Mentoring of junior software engineers.
