General Dynamics Mission Systems is seeking a Sr Systems Engineer 2 to support the D5LE2 program within the SWC Fire Control engineering organization. The successful candidate will apply foundational systems engineering principles across the system development life cycle, contributing to the design, analysis, and verification of mission-critical fire control subsystems supporting the U.S. Navy's strategic deterrent. This role is ideal for an early-career engineer looking to build deep domain expertise in a safety-critical, long-horizon defense program while working alongside experienced systems engineers and technical leads. D5LE2 is the next-generation life extension of the Trident II D5 strategic weapons system, supporting the U.S. Navy's sea-based nuclear deterrent through the 2080s. Key milestones include Preliminary Design Review (PDR) in 2028 and Critical Design Review (CDR) in 2032. The engineering team applies MBSE, digital engineering, and rigorous systems engineering processes in a safety-critical, CNWDI-controlled environment. This position is part of the SWC Fire Control engineering organization (DE256) at General Dynamics Mission Systems, Pittsfield, MA.
