About The Position

The Sr Systems Engineer (IBM Solutions) for our CCA (Caribbean Central America) Organization will be responsible for complex engineering for IBM software platform including Data and AI, Automation and hybrid Cloud, systems and/or storage environments, along with related applications, network considerations and infrastructure applications, whether on-premises or in the cloud. Ensures configuration & sizing considerations and builds are consistent with platform and architectural standards and will meet specified needs. Independently makes important decisions regarding engineering, configuration, monitoring, capacity planning and problem resolution that could affect million-dollar project delivery or the successful execution of business transactions for several hours. Ensures backout plans are created and executable in the event of an implementation problem. Directs and trains System Engineers and Associate Engineers to meet workload demands. Continually updates skillset and stays abreast of technologies, trends and developments. Candidates from Venezuela are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

• Associate Degree with Systems Engineering or Related field of study required.
• 3+ Years of relevant work experience.
• Proficient in English (level B2 or higher) required.

• Demonstrate working knowledge of IBM Data & AI software portfolio,
• Experience with analytics, business automation, and enterprise AI solutions
• Experience with FinOps
• Experience with Windows and Linux server and network operating environments.
• Experience with datacenter infrastructure technologies such as enterprise servers, storage systems (SAN, NAS, NVMe, FC, iSCSI, SDS, etc.), data protection, and related applications.
• Experience with virtualization datacenter technologies such as vSphere, Hyper-V, KVM and container platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes and OpenShift.
• Experience with hybrid multi-cloud solutions such as AWS, Azure, GCP, IBM Cloud, etc.
• Preferred knowledge in cybersecurity, AI data analytics, and/or IoT.
• Preferred IBM Certifications.

Responsibilities

• Designs, configures, complex regional software, data, AI and automation solutions.
• Apply knowledge of IBM's Automation and Integration portfolio, including Maximo, Cloud Pak for Integration, and IBM FinOps offerings, to design, position, validate, and demonstrate solutions that deliver business value and operational efficiency
• Collaborate with business partners to ensure appropriate solution sizing and configuration, aligning software recommendations with client requirements and supporting accurate quoting and pricing activities. (40%)
• Designs Compute and storage solutions to enable new business opportunities, support organic growth and small to moderate M&A, and to implement and improve new application services
• Provides full operational support for global and regional software and infrastructure services that execute revenue-generating applications, colleague productivity tools, back office systems, and customer support, with rare assistance from more senior engineers in mission critical and/or extremely complex situations (30%)
• Works with project managers to prioritize work, and provides structure and direction to Engineers and Associate Engineers as necessary to meet team commitments (15%)
• Builds and updates systems automation and monitoring tools (15%)
• Performs other additional duties as assigned.
