About The Position

AWS Secure Connection Services (SC) is seeking a seasoned Senior Systems Development Engineer to join their team building next-generation infrastructure solutions for Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC). ADC extends the full power of AWS cloud infrastructure to customers, countries, and organizations with the most stringent security, compliance, and data sovereignty requirements, including government, defense, and regulated industries. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role where systems expertise and architectural decisions will directly shape the reliability, scalability, and security of infrastructure operating at global scale. As a Senior Systems Development Engineer, the individual will own the design, implementation, and operational excellence of the systems and automation platforms that power Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC). They will lead complex infrastructure initiatives end-to-end, from ambiguous problem definition through architecture, build-out, and long-term operability. They will partner closely with software engineers, security engineers, and product teams to translate demanding customer and compliance requirements into robust, automated, and scalable infrastructure solutions. They will also serve as a technical anchor for their team: mentoring engineers, driving systems engineering best practices, and raising the bar on automation, reliability, and operational rigor. At AWS, the philosophy is to "work backwards" from the customer. Senior engineers are expected not just to execute, but to define what needs to be built and why. The ideal candidate is a challenger and motivator, embracing hard problems and driving innovative automated solutions, with a focus on personal and professional growth. They are a clear and compelling communicator, able to articulate designs and complex concepts to diverse audiences. They are curious and contrarian when it counts, comfortable taking a contrarian viewpoint when it genuinely serves the customer, and actively seeking new approaches. They are a proactive, long-term thinker, critically considering growth, scale, and global demand. Finally, they are patient and persistent, understanding that global impact is an iterative process, operating with an ingrained improvement loop.

  • Knowledge of infrastructure automation delivered through the software development lifecycle in an API-enabled environment, including agile development, software architecture/patterns, and modern cloud services
  • Experience developing, deploying and managing AI products at scale
  • Experience with network automation and infrastructure-as-code approaches for managing complex, multi-region network topologies
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph
