About The Position

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to work onsite in a highly collaborative, multi-platform, and multi-disciplined environment. The Systems Administrator will be responsible for deploying and maintaining classified IT infrastructures, requiring an active secret security clearance. The Digital Technology (DT) group combines foundational IT with new digital technologies to drive business efficiencies and improve customer experience. This role is ideal for an agile thinker who enjoys using modern technology for significant improvements.

Requirements

Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
An active DoD Secret clearance is required.
Experience with security infrastructure products and capabilities.
Must have experience with Redhat servers and workstations.
Experience using VMware vCenter, vSphere, VDI (Horizon), and ESX and/or other virtual computing methods.
Must be able to develop solutions and documentation to a variety of technical problems.
Experience with Linux architecture, deployment, administration, performance monitoring/tuning, security hardening, and troubleshooting.
Experience with infrastructure backup, restore, disaster recovery and business continuity products.
Experience with NAS and / or SAN storage capabilities.
Experience with application installation and multi-server environment/deployment.

Nice To Haves

An active DoD Top Secret clearance.
Containerization (Kubernetes, Docker).
Scanning using tools such as Nessus and SCAP.
Familiarity with High Performance Computing (HPC) Environments.
Experience with Enterprise Active Directory (AD) & LDAP.
Familiarity with Databases including MariaDB, Oracle, and SQL.
Experience dealing with Managed Anti-Virus (AV) solutions.

Responsibilities

Provide System Administration in a heterogeneous Redhat 7 & 8 Enterprise Linux environment.
Understand and utilize knowledge of Linux Server internals including DNS, File sharing protocols, DHCP, AD integration via LDAP, file system structures and permissions.
Work as a team member in a fast-paced technological environment.
Use troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of moderate to high scope and complexity, including the integration of hardware and operating systems (OS).
Understand data backup uses and technologies.
Install and configure software applications requested by end users.
Work with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements.
Obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements within 6 months of start date.
