About The Position

Acuity Innovations is seeking an innovative, creative and highly-motivated engineer to support a MILSATCOM Program Management Office (PMO) within the US Space Force’s (USSF), Space Systems Command (SSC) at Peterson Space Force Base (PSFB), CO. The candidate will support sustainment activities for a diverse portfolio of strategic and tactical MILSATCOM space systems and infrastructure. The candidate will provide systems engineering and integration expertise in support of legacy space constellations including, but not limited to, Milstar, Advanced Enhanced High Frequency (AEHF) and Enhanced Polar System (EPS) and associated ground infrastructure, warfighter terminals and software applications such as Family of Beyond Line-of-Sight Terminal (FAB-T), Global Aircrew Strategic Network Terminal (Global-ASNT), Milstar Messaging System (MMS), Global Broadcast Service (GBS) and Ground Multiband Terminal (GMT) along with various other systems, subsystems and devices in a multidisciplinary environment. The candidate will also have a direct impact on new MILSATCOM space systems transitioning from the acquisition community to operational stakeholders. This opportunity is an engineering management position. We seek a self-starter who is capable of autonomous, on-the-job learning/growth. The candidate will have a positive, tangible effect across all aspects of the space system (spacecraft, uplinks/downlinks, command & control, networks, users) while improving overall combat readiness. The MILSATCOM Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (MSEIT) effort provides leading edge Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) for the Air Force’s Space and Missiles System Center. We support the Air Force’s acquisition of state of the art Military Satellite Communications systems, providing global secure, survivable, and protected communications for our nation’s warfighters. We seek technical individuals who will thrive in a highly collaborative work environment of small teams, using the most modern tools and methodologies to tackle the challenges of integrating complex space and ground communications systems.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen and have an active DOD Secret required to be considered for the position
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science or equivalent technical discipline from an accredited university
  • 5 years experience in SE&I associated with system acquisitions and/or O&S
  • Expertise with requirements development and analysis and the development of systems engineering-related documents
  • Knowledge of Agile software development processes and applications (i.e., Jira/Confluence)
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective interpersonal and team-player skills
  • Clear and concise written, verbal communications and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)

Nice To Haves

  • 6+ years of experience in a DoW program office with an understanding of DoW acquisition processes
  • 6+ years of experience working with strategic & tactical MILSATCOM space systems
  • Experience working in a CMMI environment
  • Possess knowledge of Agile software development processes and applications (e.g., Jira/Confluence)
  • Direct experience with Change Management and Configuration Management (CM) processes
  • Possess Project Management Institute (PMI) Program Management Professional (PMP) certification

Responsibilities

  • Engage both government and corporate stakeholders to effectively produce outstanding results
  • Coordinate with numerous stakeholders/customers from DoW agencies to commercial industry that translate to tangible, positive, mission-focused results
  • Develop, analyze and maintain systems engineering documentation and capability requirements to ensure alignment with mission objectives and continuous readiness
  • Apply Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) frameworks and DoW acquisition best practices to daily program office operations, directly advancing strategic and tactical MILSATCOM space systems
  • Learn and apply established government SEIT processes and procedures in support of MILSATCOM and NC3 O&S activities
  • Provide senior-level critical thinking and problem solving skills to the government customer; drive technical challenges to their most logical resolution
