About The Position

The Senior Supplier Development Engineer leads supplier development strategy and initiatives to improve supplier performance and capabilities and ensure suppliers meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements. The role leads and mentors a supplier development team, builds supplier partnerships, and works across Honeywell Aerospace functions to support rate readiness and consistent supply-chain performance. The position is based in the Phoenix/Tempe, Arizona area on a hybrid schedule and includes travel to supplier locations in the continental United States and globally.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of experience in supplier development, engineering, or a related leadership role.
• Proficiency in budget management, financial acumen, and project management.
• In-depth knowledge of supplier development strategies, supplier relationship management, Lean Six Sigma, engineering principles, and quality control.
• Strong leadership, analytical and problem-solving, and team management skills.
• Ability to apply tactical and strategic principles when working with suppliers.
• Excellent problem-solving and strategic planning abilities.
• A degree in an engineering or engineering-related field; listed disciplines include Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical, Material Science, and Industrial Engineering.
• Engineering background in Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering.
• Prior experience in manufacturing, quality, procurement, sourcing, or engineering roles.
• Experience in manufacturing and supply chain.
• Must be a U.S. person as defined in the posting: a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or person with protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a supplier development strategy aligned with organizational goals to enhance supplier performance and capabilities.
• Lead and mentor supplier development engineers and other professionals, supporting their development and the successful execution of supplier development projects.
• Establish and enforce supplier performance standards, conduct regular assessments, and work with suppliers to improve quality and reliability.
• Build business partnerships with suppliers that support growth and enable suppliers to reach production rates across multiple platforms.
• Apply Lean and Six Sigma principles to reduce cycle time and lead time.
• Assess suppliers’ current capacity and develop plans to increase capacity and support customer commitments, including production surges.
• Collaborate with Sourcing, Commodity Managers, Procurement, Engineering, Quality, and Production across Honeywell Aerospace to achieve rate readiness and supply-chain consistency.
• Create metrics, charts, and graphs to demonstrate supplier growth and health.
• Create and maintain a RAIL and milestone chart for each supplier, prepare meeting agendas, distribute meeting minutes and actions, and track progress toward targets.
• Travel to supplier locations in the continental United States and globally.
