About The Position

The Pratt & Whitney Holt, MI site has an immediate opening for a 2nd Shift Operations Supervisor. The principal duty of this position is to provide supervision, leadership, and support to the business, ensuring smooth and efficient operations for multiple cells of the OEM business. The person in this role will continually search for opportunities to enhance the production processes and the product using a variety of problem-solving techniques, effective interpersonal and communication skills, along with technical competency. A successful Cell Leader will motivate, coach, and encourage employees to optimize career development and personal satisfaction. The Cell Leader will also promote excellent employee relations and empowerment of all assigned personnel.

Requirements

  • Typically requires: A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
  • U.S. Citizen - U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Experience in MS Office applications, specifically MS PowerPoint and Excel

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in STEM field; Engineering, Business or Supply Chain.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant certificate (A&P license)
  • 2 years of Operations Leadership experience in a manufacturing production environment
  • Aftermarket Aerospace Composite and Overhaul and Repair (MRO) industry experience
  • Personnel management experience, ideally within a bargaining unit / union workforce environment.
  • Knowledge of Union-Management Collective Bargaining Agreements
  • Proven ability to lead mentoring, coaching, developing talent and motivate teams to achieve business goals.
  • Working knowledge of Pratt & Whitney shop practices, quality standards, processes and procedures
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite programs, SAP ERP, and Solumina MES.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of assigned hourly workforce: (Time & attendance, time off, rewards, vouchering, training, communications, etc.)
  • Define and Implement plans to support the objectives of the business including Quality, and Financial Metrics.
  • Meet business metrics goals as defined for each cell (Cost, Quality, Delivery, EH&S).
  • Lead process improvement opportunities using continuous improvement and Lean Strategies to enhance quality, decrease process cycle time and reduce operational costs.
  • Implement root-cause corrective actions in a timely manner to ensure quality standards are maintained.
  • Meet the schedule, plan and execute contingency plans.
  • Coach employees to develop a motivated, effective team.
  • Conduct performance and skill review processes for Operations Technicians, Maintenance Mechanics, and Inspectors.
  • Demonstrates commitment to the EH&S program by complying with all policies and procedures, completing all required training, and supporting all applicable committee activities.
  • Cover other shifts as needed to support the business
