The Stress Analysis will support the development, design reviews, and program milestones for mechanical ground support equipment (MGSE), including handling, lifting, testing, assembly, and transportation of mechanical, electrical, and RF components.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Demonstrated understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, including structures, mechanisms, material properties & selection, and analysis techniques.
  • Hands-on experience in mechanical design/or manufacturing, including interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience with analysis tools (NX, NASTRAN, FEMAP, NASGRO, etc...) and experience with model based definition.
  • Working knowledge of Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.
  • US Citizenship required.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of non-linear, fracture, fatigue, and buckling analysis techniques and experience in mechanisms, ground support, hoisting, and test equipment.
  • Working knowledge of industry standards and federal regulations including ANSI, OSHA, AIAA, and AWS standards as applied to mechanical and structural systems.
  • Experience collaborating in cross-functional, multidisciplinary product development teams.
  • Knowledge of LM Space command media.
  • Current US Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Use NASTRAN to develop finite element models, assemblies, and data packages.
  • Integrate within a multidisciplinary team to develop designs adhering to equipment requirements.
  • Support design reviews and present analysis to stakeholders for approval.
