About The Position

Avalara is seeking a results-driven Senior Strategic Initiatives Manager to help drive operational excellence and executive-level visibility for our Enterprise Partner Ecosystems organization, which includes our strategic technology integration partnerships and Global System Integrator (GSI) relationships. This role is built for someone who's genuinely curious about how AI is changing the way strategic and operational work gets done, someone who has actually rolled up their sleeves to test, build, or implement AI-assisted workflows, and wants a role that rewards that kind of thinking rather than just tolerating it. You will serve as a strategic right hand to the team's leader, translating complex, fast-moving priorities into structured execution, clear reporting, and organized operating rhythms. You'll combine sharp analytical instincts with hands-on program management to keep cross-functional work moving and to give leadership a clear, consistent view into performance and progress, while bringing that same builder's mindset to how the team itself operates day to day. A core focus of this role is building the operational foundation for a growing team, strong documentation, repeatable processes, and executive-ready reporting, while also driving special projects that advance our enterprise partners and GSI strategy. This includes strengthening our key enterprise partnerships and activating respective GSI relationships, ensuring these partners are properly engaged, supported, and positioned to build on our platform. The ideal candidate is highly organized, dynamic, and comfortable operating with ambiguity, someone who can walk into a fast-paced environment, bring structure to it, and keep every stakeholder aligned along the way.

Requirements

8+ years of experience in strategic initiatives, business operations, or program management.
Strong analytical and storytelling skills — adept at turning data into insight and insight into action
Hands-on experience applying or testing AI tools to real workflows
Proven track record in managing complex, cross-functional projects from planning through delivery
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing executive-level updates
Demonstrated success managing roadmaps or business ownership of customer- or partner-facing technology
Proven success working in fast-paced environments and navigating ambiguity with a solution-oriented mindset
Mastery of Excel, PowerPoint, and project management tools (Smartsheet, Confluence, SharePoint)
Adequate Proficiency with tools such as Jira, Smartsheet, Power BI, Confluence, and Excel
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Analytics, Project Management, or a related field
Mastery of: Excel, PowerPoint, Confluence, Slack, Power BI, Salesforce
Strong Experience with: AI-assisted workflow tools, Smartsheet, Jira, SharePoint
Experience with Partner Relationship Management (PRM) platforms

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with Partner Relationship Management (PRM) platforms or similar systems is a plus

Responsibilities

Build leadership-ready reporting, dashboards, and readouts for regular business reviews and ad hoc executive requests
Synthesize program and performance data into clear narratives and recommendations that support decision-making
Use AI and automation where it makes sense to speed up reporting and analysis, so more time goes toward strategic synthesis and less toward manual compilation
Partner directly with the team's leader to prepare materials for cross-functional and executive audiences
Translate leadership priorities into structured workstreams, clearly defined milestones, and cross-functional execution plans
Lead special projects end-to-end, translating ambiguous or evolving priorities into structured plans with clear milestones and owners
Identify gaps in process or tooling and build scalable solutions, including AI-assisted workflows, that increase clarity and consistency across the team
Support strategy and coordination across our enterprise-focused partner ecosystems, including our Global System Integrator (GSI) relationships
Drive reactivation efforts for underutilized GSI partnerships, ensuring these partners are properly engaged and equipped to build with us
Serve as a coordination point across internal teams to keep enterprise partner initiatives aligned and moving forward
Act as a reliable connector across RevOps, Product, and other partner-adjacent teams to keep initiatives on track
Proactively surface risks, communicate changes and delays early, and keep stakeholders informed at every level, from day-to-day collaborators to executives
Bring a solution-oriented mindset to cross-team efforts, showing up with a clear point of view on how you'll contribute, not just an opinion on what should happen
Maintain clear, current documentation, trackers, and knowledge repositories that make the team's work easy to follow and scale
Build and refine templates and playbooks that raise the bar on consistency and transparency across initiatives
Look for opportunities to use AI to keep documentation and status reporting current with less manual upkeep, so the team spends more time on the work itself
Establish operating rhythms and governance mechanisms that keep the team and its stakeholders aligned
