About The Position

Stellantis is seeking a Sr. Staff SoC BSW Engineer to lead platform stability, performance optimization, and boot KPI improvements across QNX-, Linux-, and Android-based automotive SoC platforms. The role is part of the Base Software (BSW) Engineering team and supports Autonomous Driving, Infotainment, and Connected Vehicle Systems. The position requires deep expertise in OS/BSP integration, system-level debugging, and resolving complex showstopper and critical issues to ensure high-performance, stable, production-ready platforms. The engineer will contribute to BSP integration, SoC bring-up, and OS/hypervisor optimization across multicore automotive platforms, while providing technical leadership, architecture reviews, and mentoring.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in embedded software development, OS/BSP integration, and system-level debugging.
  • Deep expertise in QNX, Embedded Linux, and/or Android platforms.
  • Strong C/C++ programming skills and understanding of OS internals, scheduling, memory management, and IPC.
  • Proven experience in boot-time optimization, performance profiling, and resolving complex platform stability issues.
  • Hands-on experience with BSP development, device drivers, and SoC bring-up.
  • Strong debugging skills using JTAG, kernel traces, crash dumps, and system profiling tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with Qualcomm automotive SoCs, QNX Hypervisor, and Android virtualization.
  • Experience with QNX System Profiler, Linux perf/ftrace, Android Perfetto, or equivalent profiling tools.
  • Demonstrated success in improving boot KPIs, CPU utilization, memory efficiency, and system stability.
  • Experience resolving critical cross-functional issues involving silicon vendors, OS suppliers, and software integration teams.
  • Proficiency in Python, Shell scripting, and automated performance/stability testing.
  • Familiarity with automotive functional safety, cybersecurity fundamentals, and ASPICE processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead boot-time KPI optimization across QNX, Linux, and Android platforms by identifying bottlenecks in bootloader, OS, driver, and service initialization.
  • Drive platform stability and performance improvements, focusing on CPU utilization, memory management, latency, and system responsiveness.
  • Lead investigation and resolution of showstopper and critical issues, including OS crashes, kernel panics, system hangs, and boot failures.
  • Perform complex system-level debugging across OS, hypervisor, BSP, device drivers, and hardware interfaces.
  • Collaborate with semiconductor partners and OS vendors to drive root-cause analysis and timely resolution of critical platform issues.
  • Contribute to BSP integration, SoC bring-up, and OS/hypervisor optimization across multicore automotive platforms.
  • Develop performance profiling and diagnostic tools and automation frameworks for KPI monitoring and regression prevention.
  • Drive platform maturity, software release stability, and production readiness through continuous performance and reliability improvements.
  • Provide technical leadership, architecture reviews, and mentoring on OS performance, stability, and system-level debugging.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity and functional safety teams to ensure relevant platform requirements are met.
