As a Sr. Staff Propulsion Engineer – Level 6 located in Promontory, UT, you’ll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one. The preferred location for this role is Promontory, UT. May consider one of the following major Space sector locations: Promontory, UT or Magna, UT. Our domain provides rewarding work that contributes to the latest advancements being made in the aerospace and defense industry. This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (STEM) with 14 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree (STEM) with 12 years of professional experience – OR – PhD (STEM) with 10 years of professional experience.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance
  • Strong understanding of materials and processes used in a highly regulated environment.
  • Excellent people and technical project management skills
  • Experience in conducting material trade studies
  • Strong knowledge of and ability to facilitate, coordinate and lead work across Propulsion Systems’ functions and disciplines
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to remain resilient while overcoming challenges
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Strong experience with and broad application of Propulsion Systems engineering systems and functions (PLM, drawings, MRB, tooling, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of materials and processes used in solid rocket motor design, manufacture, and test
  • Experience with material obsolescence and qualification
  • 5+ years’ experience SRM-related project planning and execution
  • Experience presenting to senior leadership
  • Experience generating Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for new work scope, and managing costs to an established budget

Responsibilities

  • Technical Lead and Program Liaison for material issues
  • Identify opportunities and drive common materials initiatives
  • Lead and manage material obsolescence challenges
  • Manger Common engineering change process
  • Coordinate and support material compliance
  • Train, mentor and support engineers with M&P responsibilities
  • Other duties as assigned
