Sr Staff Information Systems Engineer

Cribl
$136,000 - $213,000Remote

About The Position

Join the company that’s building the telemetry infrastructure for the AI era. At Cribl, we partner with IT and Security teams at many of the world’s biggest enterprises, including half of the Fortune 100, to bridge the gap between AI ambition and infrastructure reality. As the AI Platform for Telemetry, we give customers the choice, control, and flexibility to manage and analyze telemetry for both humans and agents, so they can build what’s next. We’re one of the fastest‑growing private companies and a leading player in a massive, fast‑moving market. With a global workforce, we’re remote‑first and grounded in a simple idea: software is a people business. Cribl is the place where curious, collaborative people can do their best work, grow fast, and bring their full selves to the herd. We are looking for a Sr Staff Information Systems Engineer to join Cribl's IT Engineering team. This is a high-impact individual contributor role for someone who combines deep technical ownership with broad cross-functional influence. You will help define how Cribl designs, secures, automates, and operates the internal systems that power the business every day. You will serve as a senior technical leader across identity, endpoint management, AWS-hosted IT infrastructure, ServiceNow, and core automation. You'll partner closely with IT Support, Security, Enterprise Applications, People, and business stakeholders to improve reliability, strengthen security, and scale employee experience. This role is for someone who can move between strategy and execution: defining better patterns, building durable automations, guiding technical decisions, and stepping in directly when critical systems need attention.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in corporate IT or systems engineering with meaningful ownership of identity, SaaS, endpoint, and/or cloud systems in a high-growth, remote-first environment — balancing project work, operational ownership, escalations, and on-call responsibilities.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS for internal IT systems (IAM, networking, logging, monitoring, and secure administration) and ServiceNow administration (workflows, catalog design, incident/change processes, integrations, and reporting).
  • Strong scripting experience using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar tools, with comfort working with REST APIs, JSON, and event-driven workflows to build and maintain automations across the IT stack.
  • Proven ability to independently lead technical initiatives, shape architecture, and influence cross-functional decisions without formal authority, paired with strong written documentation skills including runbooks, technical standards, and knowledge base content.
  • Experience setting up or operating log management and observability platforms such as Grafana, Kibana, Elasticsearch, Cribl Search, or similar tooling.
  • Deep hands-on experience with enterprise identity platforms such as Okta, including SSO, lifecycle workflows, access policy design, and group-based access models.
  • Demonstrated ownership of macOS and/or Windows endpoint management, including MDM, provisioning, patching, compliance, and baseline security controls.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience administering core business platforms such as Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Atlassian, Glean, or similar enterprise SaaS tools.
  • Experience designing or operating automations with Okta Workflows, Serval, Zapier, or similar orchestration platforms.
  • Experience evaluating or supporting enterprise AI tools such as Claude, Gemini, Glean, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with MCP-based integrations, enterprise connectors, and practical guardrails for AI-assisted workflows.
  • Experience supporting ITGC, SOX/IT controls, access reviews, or other audit and compliance-related operational processes.
  • Experience with Jamf, Intune, Kolide, or similar endpoint and posture-management tooling.
  • Prior experience in a rapidly scaling, distributed company where strong systems thinking and clear ownership matter.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior technical owner and design authority for Cribl's core IT systems and workflows.
  • Own and evolve identity platforms and lifecycle workflows (joiner/mover/leaver, group access, contractor lifecycle, privileged access, and access reviews), with a focus on least privilege, auditability, and scale.
  • Own AWS-based IT infrastructure including access patterns, networking, logging, and monitoring. Define secure operational standards and partner with adjacent teams on shared infrastructure and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Design and maintain automations across the IT stack using ServiceNow, Okta Workflows, scripting, APIs, and webhooks to reduce manual work and improve consistency.
  • Provide senior technical ownership of ServiceNow architecture, workflows, integrations, and data quality. Partner with leadership on change management, audit readiness, and sustainable process design.
  • Establish scalable standards and guardrails for IT-owned systems. Act as a senior reviewer for new implementations and complex changes, and identify opportunities to standardize or simplify.
  • Support enterprise AI tools and agent frameworks. Contribute to safe adoption patterns, access controls, and governance — while keeping core systems ownership as the primary focus.
  • Serve as Tier 3 escalation for complex incidents across platforms; participate in the on-call rotation to provide after-hours support for critical incidents and escalations.
  • Partner with Security during incidents to support containment, access changes, triage, evidence gathering, and recovery across identity, endpoints, SaaS, and IT-owned infrastructure.

  • health, dental, vision, short-term disability, and life insurance
  • paid holidays and paid time off
  • a fertility treatment benefit
