About The Position

USI is a national nonprofit with extensive experience in the design and implementation of place-based human capital development strategies in communities that are undergoing comprehensive physical revitalization. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for key day-to-day accounting functions and will support in areas such as financial statement preparation and analysis, forecasting and budgeting, and other related financial activities.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
  • Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field, required.
  • At least three years of related experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Blackbaud, Concur, and ADP or similar platforms are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheets, and income statements.
  • Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly.
  • Verifies ledger coding on payables, sets up new vendor accounts.
  • Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
  • Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts.
  • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
  • Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Perform all Organizational reconciliation(s)
  • Utilize the Result Count framework in daily accounting activities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
