About The Position

As a Sr. Materials Specialist, you will support and lead materials coordination, shipping operations, inventory planning, and logistics activities to ensure efficient material flow and operational continuity. This role is responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound shipments, supporting warehouse and production requirements, maintaining shipping compliance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across materials operations. You coordinate and manage inbound and outbound material and shipping activities to support operational and production requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field, or equivalent, relevant experience
  • 6+ years of experience in materials management, logistics, shipping, warehouse operations, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of freight forwarding processes, shipping documentation, and Incoterms
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in a team-oriented environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work professionally with vendors, customers, and service providers
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional and positive attitude with strong customer service focus
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support production and operational requirements
  • Strong collaboration and cross-functional coordination skills

  • Experience with hazardous material shipping requirements preferred

Responsibilities

  • Determine the most efficient shipping methods based on delivery urgency, customer requirements, carrier performance, and cost
  • Prepare, adjust, and communicate inbound schedules to align with warehouse and production delivery requirements
  • Coordinate outbound shipment pickups with freight carriers and logistics providers
  • Prepare shipping documentation for domestic and international shipments, including coordination with freight forwarders and customs requirements
  • Perform inbound load planning to prevent dock capacity issues and shipment delays while communicating schedules and updates to internal teams and carriers
  • Complete Advanced Shipping Notices (ASN) and customer delivery communications accurately and timely
  • Follow customer-specific shipping instructions and collaborate directly with customers to support shipping requirements
  • Ensure shipping labels, packing lists, shipping tags, commercial invoices, certificates of origin, customs documentation, and bills of lading are prepared accurately prior to shipment
  • Maintain shipment records, analyze shipping data, and prepare detailed logistics and shipping reports for leadership and cross-functional teams
  • Track shipments, troubleshoot delivery issues, and provide delivery confirmations and timely issue resolution
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within shipping, receiving, warehouse, and materials operations
  • Respond to inquiries and complaints in a timely and professional manner
  • Demonstrate knowledge and compliance with hazardous material shipping requirements and applicable regulations
  • Assist in developing and improving shipping, receiving, and materials management processes and procedures
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with warehouse, production, procurement, logistics, and customer teams to ensure alignment and operational efficiency
  • Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards: Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
  • Perform other duties as assigned
