About The Position

About the Role The Sr. Specialist, Logistics will assist in developing, maintaining, and reporting on logistics expenditures and performance, and will evaluate and analyze various forms of data to identify opportunities for improvement. The incumbent will perform day-to-day functions related to processing incoming and outgoing shipments from a documentation, customs, and transportation perspective, and will be familiar with shipping and receiving practices to support measurement and continuous improvement processes for that function. A solid background in all modes of transport, along with customs experience, is mandatory. The Sr. Specialist, Logistics will also perform other duties as required and work voluntary overtime as needed.

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of logistics/supply chain experience
  • College diploma or university degree is an asset
  • CSS designation, CIFFA certificate, or CITT certification is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of international customs regulations, laws, and policies; trade agreements; certificates and marking of origin; customs clearance; and customs and shipping documentation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Well-organized with the ability to multitask
  • Strong team player; experience working in cross-functional teams is preferred
  • Highly energized, results-oriented problem solver who demonstrates a high level of initiative

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations with customs brokers and stakeholders, identifying and mitigating potential risks or delays for all shipments
  • Stay up to date on key issues affecting logistics, such as customs, port strikes, legislative changes, etc.
  • Coordinate with Buyers, vendors, freight forwarders, and carriers to ensure timely, accurate, and cost-effective delivery of goods
  • Perform activities such as coding freight invoices, resolving discrepancies, ensuring rate schedules are current, reviewing confidential carrier contracts, and conducting service level reviews
  • Ensure compliance with all customs regulations and relevant processes for North American and global import and export transactions
  • Provide in-house guidance on classifications, HS tariff codes, DG shipments, trade compliance, and FTAs
  • Support the evaluation and analysis of logistics, shipping, and receiving departments to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Support all internal customers with logistics needs as required
  • Manage complex shipments (e.g., international freight, oversized cargo, multimodal transport)
  • Perform other duties as assigned
