About The Position

Reporting to the Associate Director, Safety & Environment, the Ergonomics Senior Specialist is responsible for leading a comprehensive ergonomics program for West Point, North Wales, and Springhouse Innovation Park (Vaccines Manufacturing, Research & Development, and Support Functions). The key function of this role will serve as the subject matter expert on ergonomics to assess, develop, and implement strategies that reduce the risk of musculoskeletal disorders and align with site business goals and values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Ergonomics, Occupational Health, Safety, Industrial Engineering, Kinesiology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ applied professional experience leading or managing workplace ergonomics programs in manufacturing, laboratory, or industrial environments.
  • Proficiency with ergonomic risk assessment tools, including Humantech software system.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA injury and illness recordkeeping requirements.
  • Strong project management, stakeholder engagement, and cross functional leadership skills.
  • Ability to interpret, apply regulations and ensure environmental, health, and safety program compliance.
  • Strong people skills and the ability to cultivate collaborative relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, and other software.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with injury case management, worker’s compensation, and return-to-work programs.
  • Professional certifications such as CPE, CSP, ARM, OHST, CIH or related credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and drive continuous improvement to the site Ergonomics Program, procedures, and systems in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Lead the site’s Ergonomics Core Team to focused on risk reduction and injury prevention.
  • Conduct ergonomic risk assessments for manufacturing, laboratory, warehouse, and office tasks utilizing ergonomic risk assessment tools and methodologies, including Humantech system, NIOSH lifting equation, etc.
  • Develop, track, and report on ergonomic risk reduction projects and program performance indicators.
  • Provide technical training to Ergonomic Core Team members and guidance to managers, employees and project teams.
  • Collaborate with engineering, scientific staff/shop floor, and project teams to integrate ergonomic principles into the design of new processes, equipment, and facilities.
  • Investigate incidents and injuries related to ergonomic hazards to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Partner with Occupational Health, supervisors, and HR for injury and illness cases to ensure compliance with OSHA recordkeeping an reporting requirements.
  • Evaluate incidents for recordability, track employee restrictions / return to work plans / accommodations and manage OSHA 300, 300A, and 301 logs.
  • Support enterprise and divisional safety initiatives related to ergonomics and human performance.
