About The Position

The Sr. Sourcing Specialist will join the Starshield Supply Chain team and manage demand planning and sourcing for hardware used on and in the production of the Starshield satellite constellation. The role works directly with suppliers and internal stakeholders to shape sourcing strategies, support product development and production, manage costs, and improve supplier performance. Its work supports production rates in SpaceX’s satellite factory.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, material planning, production planning, supply chain management, or engineering; alternatively, at least 5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, material planning, production planning, or supply chain management in lieu of a degree.
May need to work irregular hours with global suppliers in different time zones.
Ability to travel for short and extended trips as needed, up to 25%.
Ability to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed.
Must work onsite in Hawthorne, California; remote work is not considered.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement sourcing and cost-management strategies with key suppliers for existing platforms and new product development.
Aggregate demand for hardware supporting the Starshield satellite constellation and provide an accurate demand signal to enable production rate.
Act as the supplier interface for RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs.
Partner with internal stakeholders to run RFx processes and evaluations and implement sourcing decisions.
Manage costs to ensure alignment with program budgets.
Develop should-cost models for competitive cost analysis.
Ensure suppliers are prepared to support prototype builds with the necessary equipment and materials for product development, ramp-up, and production.
Drive internal and external process improvements and implement supplier cost-saving programs.
Present value propositions to SpaceX executives concerning contract awards, cost reviews, cost-reduction strategies, and critical supply issues.
Develop, manage, and maintain strong supplier partnerships.
Implement analytical data-management tools to manage supplier performance.
