About The Position

SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Sourcing Specialist to support construction projects that expand or optimize infrastructure for the Starship Program. The role is part of a progressive procurement organization that challenges traditional procurement methods and works closely with suppliers to improve cost, quality, and delivery. The specialist develops sourcing strategies, manages supplier and contract performance, and collaborates with internal stakeholders to meet purchasing and business objectives.

Requirements

An advanced degree; or a bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience; or at least 6 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: engineering, supply chain, purchasing, contract negotiation, material or production planning, operations management, material cost control, or master production scheduling.
Ability to travel; up to 20% of the work week may require travel.
Ability to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed to meet major milestones.
Must meet U.S. export-control eligibility requirements: be a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee, or be eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Responsibilities

Work with internal stakeholders to develop and implement a comprehensive contract management process that supports successful project execution.
Create sourcing strategies for assigned categories to reduce risk and meet purchasing targets, including payment terms, cash targets, and cost savings.
Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships and strategic sourcing models that optimize product and service value and support continuous cost reduction.
Communicate category strategies and drive compliance with them.
Identify and execute cost-reduction projects, including planning, stakeholder coordination, completion estimates, and project updates.
Perform quantitative and business process analyses to assess financial impacts, cost improvement, and performance for assigned categories.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define supplier SLAs and KPIs and measure business results, cost reduction, quality, and delivery timeliness.
Research and benchmark markets and gather market analysis for assigned categories.
Create contract documents with the legal department and manage contracts to ensure suppliers meet their obligations.
Interpret the relationships between contracts and terms and apply sound business reasoning to business needs.
Negotiate strategically to maximize value and cost savings while reducing risk.
Drive year-over-year cost optimization by reducing usage and eliminating operational waste.
Establish preferred suppliers for assigned categories.
Optimize procurement processes from purchase order to payment to improve efficiency and outcomes.
Create and implement programs to develop and continuously improve the supply base, manage supplier performance, and monitor KPIs.
Place purchase orders and resolve blocked invoices for assigned categories.
Lead efforts to reduce the number of transactions for assigned categories.
