Sr. Solutions Architect, WWPS SA - NPO Research
About The Position
AWS is seeking a highly motivated Solutions Architect to join the World Wide Public Sector Nonprofits practice. This role involves serving as the technical lead for a portfolio of nonprofit research organizations, assisting them in designing and implementing cloud architectures to advance science at scale. The position is part of a sales and business development team, where technical expertise will directly influence planning and strategy. The ideal candidate will possess both consultative and leadership skills to successfully launch projects and facilitate understanding of application architectures and integration approaches among diverse groups. Day-to-day, the architect will provide architectural and technical leadership to nonprofit customers leveraging AWS at scale, guiding design decisions with a focus on high availability and performance, evangelizing best practices, mentoring others, and continuously expanding their own expertise.
Requirements
- 8+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
- 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
- 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
- 3+ years of experience in healthcare and life sciences, encompassing one or more of the following areas: clinical research, biomedical research, genomics, bioinformatics, and computational biology.

- 5+ years of solving problems with technology in the Healthcare/Life Sciences Industry experience
- A degree in genomics, bioinformatics, computational biology or similar degree field is required.
Responsibilities
- Own the technical engagement and success of customer implementation projects
- Design cloud architectures leveraging AWS services
- Provide thought leadership on security best practices for applications, servers, and networks
- Respond to RFPs and define implementation approaches
- Serve as a subject matter expert on security as it relates to customer applications and services
- Lead whiteboard sessions, technical deep-dives, and presentations for audiences of all sizes
- Capture and share best practices across the SA community
- Collaborate with and learn from some of the brightest technical minds in enterprise architecture
- Mentor peers and customers while staying current on AWS innovations and industry trends
- Travel up to 30%
