As a Senior Software Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of engineers who own resilient, reliable distributed systems end to end, setting technical and organizational direction across multiple concurrent workstreams, with accountability for outcomes that reach well beyond your immediate team. Our engineers have real autonomy and take full ownership of their solutions, involved in every stage of the development lifecycle including operating, monitoring, and on-call support for what they build. Your job is to protect and strengthen that culture, not sit above it. You"ll be close enough to the work to have informed opinions on architecture and trade-offs, and disciplined enough to let your team own the decisions.

Requirements

• Expérience substantielle dans la direction d"équipes d"ingénierie logicielle qui conçoivent et maintienent des systèmes distribués à grande échelle, avec des responsabilités couvrant plusieurs flux de travail ou sous-équipes.
• Excellentes compétences en communication, tant à l"oral qu"à l"écrit, avec la capacité de créer un consensus sur des sujets techniques complexes.
• Capacité éprouvée à encadrer, à mentorer et à développer des ingénieurs, y compris la gestion de responsables techniques et de gestionnaires émergents.
• Expérience pratique en ingénierie avec une compréhension approfondie des principes fondamentaux des systèmes distribués.
• Capacité démontrée à stimuler l"excellence opérationnelle, y compris la culture du soutien sur appel, la gestion des incidents, les pratiques de fiabilité et les modèles d"exploitation d"ingénierie couvrant la réception, la priorisation, la planification et le rythme de livraison.
• La ténacité nécessaire pour mener des projets complexes de la conception à la production et pour maintenir la stabilité d"une équipe face à l"ambiguïté.
• Expérience pratique avec Java ou Kotlin et Spring, et expérience dans la direction d"équipes qui conçoivent et exploitent des services REST et/ou gRPC à haut volume.
• Connaissances approfondies de l"architecture infonuagique native sur AWS, y compris la résilience, le basculement, la conteneurisation et l"orchestration (ex. Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarité avec des pipelines CI/CD robustes, l"infrastructure en tant que code et les outils d"observabilité (ex. Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Datadog).
• Solide compréhension de la sécurité, de la confidentialité et de la cryptographie (ex. PKI, gestion des certificats, JWT), et expérience avec les bases de données à grande échelle.
• Expérience dans la direction d"équipes distribuées ou dispersées à l"échelle mondiale dans différents fuseaux horaires.

• La maîtrise professionnelle du français et de l"anglais est un atout compte tenu de l"emplacement à Montréal, bien que ce ne soit pas une exigence.
• Familiarité avec les outils d"intelligence artificielle générative pour accélérer le développement de logiciels, et un bon jugement quant aux situations où ils sont appropriés ou non.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of engineers and technical leads, developing emerging managers, and fostering a culture of craft, ownership, and continuous improvement.
• Recruit and hire to a high technical bar, shaping the interview and onboarding practices that sustain it.
• Partner closely with Product to co-own the roadmap, influence product direction, and maintain a shared planning cadence with joint accountability for outcomes.
• Define engineering strategy and roadmaps across multiple concurrent workstreams, aligning with organizational objectives and senior leadership priorities, while establishing clear intake, prioritization, and execution processes for your team.
• Own the full lifecycle of your team"s services: architecture, implementation, testing, delivery, operation, monitoring, and on-call, driving resilience, scalability, and performance while making deliberate trade-offs across technical debt and delivery commitments.
• Set engineering best practices spanning code review, testing, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, observability, and documentation, ensuring every solution meets Apple"s security, privacy, accessibility, and operational standards.
