About The Position

Peraton is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer with an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph to join their team. This role involves designing and developing high-performance, interactive data visualizations and dashboards using modern web technologies. The engineer will be responsible for creating both DOM-based and rendering-based visualizations, writing clean, scalable code in JavaScript/TypeScript within frameworks like React, Solid, or jQuery, and structuring data using JSON for real-time visualization needs. Additionally, the role includes developing and maintaining comprehensive test coverage, building CI/CD pipelines for automated processes, and deploying, monitoring, and maintaining web applications in production. Collaboration with data scientists, engineers, and product managers to translate complex data into intuitive visual experiences is a key aspect, as is clearly communicating technical concepts to various stakeholders.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
• 14+ years of software engineering experience supporting programs of similar scope, scale, and complexity.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or an additional 4 years of relevant software engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, with experience building scalable, maintainable applications.
• Experience developing web applications using modern frameworks such as Flask, Django, or Spring Boot.
• Hands-on experience with data pipelines and data processing tools, including ingestion, transformation, and integration of large datasets.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams, including engineers, data scientists, and product stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with rendering-based visualizations (e.g., Canvas, WebGL, WebGPU).
• Experience with frameworks such as React, Solid, or jQuery.
• Experience with data manipulation using JSON.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience deploying, monitoring, and maintaining web applications in production.

Responsibilities

• Design and build high-performance, interactive data visualizations and dashboards using modern web technologies.
• Develop DOM-based (e.g., D3, SVG) and rendering-based (e.g., Canvas, WebGL, WebGPU) visualizations based on use case and performance needs.
• Write clean, scalable code using JavaScript and/or TypeScript within frameworks such as React, Solid, or jQuery.
• Structure and manipulate data using JSON to support dynamic, real-time visualization requirements.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive test coverage, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines to support automated testing, integration, and deployment.
• Deploy, monitor, and maintain web applications in production environments, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Partner closely with data scientists, engineers, and product managers to translate complex data into intuitive visual experiences.
• Clearly communicate technical concepts, tradeoffs, and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
