About The Position

PayPal Data Services, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of PayPal, Inc., seeks Sr Software Engineer in Austin, TX. The role involves designing and developing services using advanced design patterns and architectural best practices, overseeing automation coverage and continuous integration pipelines, and collaborating with architects, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver integrated technical solutions. The engineer will lead Agile SDLC execution, coordinate end-to-end feature delivery, and conduct peer design and code reviews to ensure adherence to PayPal engineering standards. Responsibilities also include defining technical standards, mentoring junior engineers, driving CI/CD automation, security hardening, and reliability engineering. A key aspect of the role is integrating agentic AI solutions to enhance software development efficiency, automate workflows, and improve system reliability. The engineer will architect and design large-scale, distributed systems, lead performance optimization, observability, and incident-response processes, and partner with leaders to define technical roadmaps and long-term engineering strategies. Partial telecommuting is permitted from within a commutable distance.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field, plus three (3) years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop services applying advanced design patterns and architectural best practices.
