About The Position

This role is part of LinkedIn’s Development Infrastructure organization, which is building the next generation of agent-centric, large-scale development infrastructure. The engineer will help make strategic, data-driven investments that improve the experience of LinkedIn developers. Work includes providing development tools and infrastructure, environments for agents to write, build, test, and publish code, actionable insights based on data and metrics, and reliable, scalable infrastructure. The role also offers opportunities to engage with the industry-wide developer community and contribute to open-source software.

The position is hybrid and based in Bellevue, Washington. LinkedIn’s flexible-work approach is centered on trust, with in-office days determined by the team’s business needs.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or related practical experience.
• At least 2 years of experience in software design, development, and algorithm-related solutions.
• At least 2 years of programming experience in object-oriented languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, C/C++, C#, or Objective-C.

Nice To Haves

• BS and at least 5 years of relevant work experience, MS and at least 5 years of relevant work experience, or PhD and at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience designing and building infrastructure and web services at large scale.
• Knowledge of Internet protocols and network programming.
• Experience working in a Unix environment, preferably Linux.
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems and client-server architectures.
• Experience driving automated cloud management systems at scale.
• Experience with containerization, cluster schedulers, infrastructure configuration, and orchestration.
• Experience with standard build tools such as Gradle or Bazel and version control systems such as Git.
• Experience in Python development using frameworks such as Django, Flask, Jinja, or SQLAlchemy.
• Knowledge and experience with Tomcat, Jetty, Netty, Apache/ATS, Scala/sbt, or Node.js.
• Experience working with SQL/NoSQL databases such as MySQL, Dynamo, Cassandra, or MongoDB.
• Experience with messaging and big data systems or solutions such as Spark, Presto, Alation, Hadoop, or Kafka.
• Suggested skills: object-oriented programming, web services, and infrastructure.

• Build and ship software at scale that delivers impact.
• Improve all aspects of the developer experience using a data-driven mindset.
• Design and build tools and frameworks to automate development, testing, deployment, management, monitoring, and data gathering and analysis for 24x7 services and products.
• Develop and evangelize solutions to challenges faced across LinkedIn product and infrastructure teams, improving developer happiness, productivity, and efficiency.
• Scale infrastructure and tools that enable more than 6,000 developers to share code, build and test software stacks, and continuously release and deploy services without compromising site reliability.
• Provide technical leadership and drive and perform engineering best practices to initiate, plan, and execute critical, large-scale, cross-functional, and company-wide programs.
