About The Position

PayPal, Inc. seeks Sr Software Engineer in Austin, TX. This role involves driving development life cycle activities such as design, coding, testing, and release to migrate existing legacy C++ applications to new raptor applications. The engineer will estimate delivery time based on team bandwidth, build working prototypes if necessary, and implement features with unit and functional tests. The role also includes leading team participation in all phases of the software development lifecycle, deploying code to the stage environment for testing, and conducting Quality Analysis of features considering all scenarios. The engineer will be responsible for delivering multiple projects, initiatives, and features from requirements gathering to production. Additionally, they will investigate production issues reported on the checkout domain and resolve them quickly to minimize end-user impact, and conduct formal and informal code reviews to ensure code quality. Partial telecommuting is permitted from within a commutable distance.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus seven years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • Java (5 years) – Experience developing and maintaining backend services using the Java framework.
  • Data Structures (5 years) – Experience with application of data structures in designing scalable algorithms.
  • Advanced Object-Oriented Design (4 years) – Experience with object-oriented principles and design patterns to architect robust and maintainable software systems.
  • Spring Core (4 years) – Experience developing enterprise applications using Spring Core and related modules.
  • C++ (4 years) – Experience writing efficient and high-performance applications using C++.
  • SQL and NoSQL (3 years) – Experience designing and optimizing relational and non-relational databases using SQL and NoSQL technologies.
  • Version Control (3 years) – Experience using Git or similar version control systems for collaborative software development.
  • Continuous Integration (3 years) – Experience setting up and maintaining CI pipelines using tools like Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
  • Kafka (2 years) – Experience building and managing event-driven systems using Apache Kafka.
  • Spring Batch (2 years) – Experience implementing batch processing solutions using Spring Batch.
