About The Position

PayPal, Inc. seeks Sr Software Engineer in Austin, TX. This role involves all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from ideation to scoping, design, and implementation. The engineer will lead by example, enhancing design, implementation, quality, and engineering practices within the team. Responsibilities include utilizing programming skills in Java, Groovy, Go, and similar languages to build highly scalable systems, producing well-supported code with unit tests, and developing/maintaining technical documentation. The role also entails code reviews, triaging and solving live issues, participating in scrum team activities, and collaborating with cross-functional groups in a matrix organization. Maintaining and enhancing existing architectural and developer documentation, as well as creating new documentation, is crucial. Continuous career growth through learning new technical or soft skills is expected. The engineer will be involved in customer campaigns, assisting internal PayPal teams in onboarding to Pipelines solutions and enhancing the Pipelines SDLC solution to meet evolving needs. The position requires high energy and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, fun work environment. Partial telecommuting is permitted from a commutable distance.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus a minimum of 6 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
  • Possess knowledge of Git and GitHub (including GitHub Actions) (4 years)
  • Familiar with Atlassian Suite (JIRA, Confluence) (4 years)
  • Utilize experience provisioning/managing with Docker/Containerization, Kubernetes (Helm Charts), Terraform (IoC) and related technologies (4 years)
  • Hands-on experience with the Harness CI/CD platform and experience designing/implementing CI/CD pipelines for Cloud Environments (AWS, GCP). (4 years)
  • Experience in public cloud technologies GCP or AWS (4 years)
  • Proficiency with programming languages such as Java, Python, Go, Bash (4 years)
  • Knowledge/experience with Unix/Linux administration (4 years)
  • Code quality tools – SonarQube (4 years)
  • System Monitoring Tools and processes, including Datadog, Automation and CI/CD processes (4 years)

Responsibilities

  • Be involved in all aspects of the SDLC, from ideation to scoping to design & implementation.
