Sr. Software Engineer

Home Depot•Atlanta, GA

About The Position

The Sr. Software Engineer designs, implements, and maintains highly available, fault-tolerant distributed systems for retail e-commerce platforms with high-throughput and low-latency requirements. The role develops, tests, deploys, and maintains software while understanding the value it provides, and independently develops and refactors products to meet the needs of customers and associates. The engineer monitors production performance and reliability against KPIs, reviews reliability metrics, tests and implements improvements, and reassesses production readiness through PRR refreshes. The role also participates in incident triage and resolution as a platform or system subject-matter expert, developing automation and tools to accelerate incident response, reduce operational toil, and restore services within SLAs. Telecommuting is available. The position involves product and tool selection, configuration, security, resilience, performance tuning, production monitoring, and mentoring less experienced engineers. The engineer collaborates with product and engineering teams through agile processes, helps ensure user stories are valuable and testable, and contributes to the growth of junior engineers through guidance and technical discussions.
