About The Position
PayPal, Inc. seeks Sr Software Engineer in Chicago, IL. This role involves designing, developing, and deploying high-quality product features for Partners and Marketplaces. The engineer will collaborate with product managers, architects, engineers, and QA to develop innovative solutions, adhere to best-in-class coding and design standards, and identify areas for technical improvement. The position also requires providing technical guidance to other software engineers and ensuring all deliverables meet timelines, quality, and performance standards. Partial telecommuting is permitted from within a commutable distance.
Requirements
- Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
- OR Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
- Two years of experience in design and development in scalable applications using Java, J2EE and Spring boot.
- Two years of experience in implementing RESTful APIs and integrated third-party services to enhance application functionality.
- Two years of experience collaborating with product owners and leadership to gather requirements and define new feature specifications.
- Two years of experience utilizing modern development tools and practices, including Maven, IntelliJ IDEA, and unit testing frameworks, to ensure robust and reliable code delivery.
- Two years of experience in source code management using tools like GitHub, SVN.
- Two years of experience demonstrating expertise in database technologies including MySQL and Oracle.
- Two years of experience building front-end interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to deliver responsive user experiences.
- Two years of experience identifying and resolving technical issues, contributing to enhanced system stability and customer satisfaction.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Nice To Haves
- Strong coding background in Java/J2EE technologies and RESTful web services.
- Able to perform unit testing and write functional test cases using Junit/TestNG.
- Prepare and execute Performance test using JMeter to find and help fix performance & scalability issues in a very time critical environment.
- Apply experience in SQL & NoSQL solutions and understand pros and cons of relational and free form databases.
