About The Position

The Senior Software Engineer on the New Ventures team designs, creates, maintains, audits, and improves software applications by performing coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting throughout the application development process. This position works on fast-moving, innovative projects that require independent ownership and solutions for complex technical challenges. The Senior Software Engineer completes work with minimal supervision, mentors less experienced engineers, and advocates for continuous improvements while driving team success through collaboration and technical excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of related experience.
  • Shipped production software in Python and Java
  • Strong technical competency.
  • Ability to communicate with clients, colleagues and management to explain complex issues clearly and concisely.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Ability to work both in a team and independently.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and work under pressure.
  • Good time management skills to plan and organize own work.
  • Demonstrated respect, collaboration, and pride in ownership.
  • Ability to adapt to change.
  • Focus on continuous improvement and delivering value.
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, or similar) and comfort integrating them into your workflow
  • Experience with cloud platforms and microservices architecture

Responsibilities

  • Design robust solutions for complex projects and build scalable software applications that power new business initiatives
  • Write, test, and implement efficient, maintainable code that meets quality standards and performance requirements
  • Work within an Agile environment, respond to change quickly, re-focus development efforts, and adapt to evolving requirements
  • Manage projects from conception through deployment with minimal supervision, owning technical decisions and outcomes
  • Perform code audits, testing, and troubleshooting throughout the development lifecycle to ensure high-quality, maintainable applications
  • Audit existing systems, identify optimization opportunities, and advocate for technical improvements across the team
  • Guide and mentor junior and mid-level engineers, providing code reviews, technical guidance, and professional development support
  • Advocate for continuous improvements, influence technical decisions, and work as a solution-oriented partner with team members and stakeholders
  • Continuously update technical knowledge and skills to stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies
  • Make recommendations for future development options and technology choices to support business objectives
