About The Position

Johnson Controls is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Data Science and Analytics team. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable software solutions that enable analytics, data-driven decision-making, and AI-powered capabilities across the organization. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader, partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software applications, data integrations, and cloud-based solutions. You will drive technical excellence, mentor other engineers, and help shape the architecture of enterprise platforms that support strategic business initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining enterprise software applications.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and collaborate across teams.
• Strong proficiency in Python, C#, Java, or comparable programming languages.
• Experience developing REST APIs and microservices.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, testing frameworks, and DevOps practices.
• Experience with enterprise data platforms such as Snowflake or similar technologies.
• Understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and scalable system design.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities.
• Ability to work independently and lead through influence.
• Strong collaboration and mentoring capabilities.

Nice To Haves

• Experience supporting machine learning or AI-enabled applications.
• Experience with Azure services and Microsoft technology stack.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with data engineering, analytics platforms, or enterprise integrations.
• Familiarity with IoT, smart buildings, or industrial technology environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable software applications and services.
• Lead architecture and design discussions for enterprise-level solutions.
• Develop secure, maintainable, and performant APIs and backend services.
• Ensure adherence to software engineering best practices, including testing, code reviews, and version control.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production environments.
• Build and maintain integrations across cloud platforms, enterprise applications, and data sources.
• Collaborate with data engineers and data scientists to support analytics and AI initiatives.
• Develop and optimize data processing workflows and application integrations.
• Contribute to cloud-native solutions using Azure or comparable cloud platform stakeholders, and technical teams to translate requirements into software solutions.
• Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers.
• Participate in technical planning, estimation, and roadmap discussions.
• Drive continuous improvement through process optimization and engineering best practices.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to existing systems.
• Support AI, analytics, and automation initiatives through robust software engineering solutions.
• Champion code quality, maintainability, and scalability across the development lifecycle.
