Requirements

  • Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus three years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • Experience building robust enterprise applications using the Spring Framework, including Spring Boot and Spring MVC (3 years).
  • Experience developing scalable backend systems using Java (3 years).
  • Experience with applied software design patterns to create maintainable and extensible codebases (3 years).
  • Experience utilizing data structures to optimize application performance and efficiency (3 years).
  • Experience implementing algorithms to solve complex problems and improve application logic (3 years).
  • Experience designing applications using principles of object-oriented design for modular architecture (3 years).
  • Experience developing and consuming RESTful web services for client-server communication (3 years).
  • Experience creating and maintaining unit tests using JUnit to ensure code reliability and coverage (3 years).
  • Experience using Mockito for mocking dependencies and writing effective unit/integration tests (3 years).
  • Experience collaborating in distributed teams using Git for version control and code reviews (3 years).
  • Experience working with both SQL and NoSQL databases for data modeling and querying (2 years).
  • Experience managing automated build and deployment pipelines using CI/CD tools and practices (2 years).

  • The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is: Primary Location | Pay Range: San Jose, California | Salary: $169,262.00-243,500.00 per annum.
  • Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze software product requirements and transform them into scalable technical designs by collaborating with Technical Leads and Product Managers.
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy robust software solutions using Java in PayPal’s recommended environment, ensuring high performance, security, and scalability.
  • Drive architecture discussions, produce well-documented design docs, and participate in design and code reviews providing constructive feedback to peers and incorporating feedback to maintain high standards of code quality and functionality.
  • Independently work on multiple product features, utilizing technical expertise to propose innovative solutions for both new and existing functionalities, informed by a growing understanding of PayPal products and the business domain.
  • Manage own project deliverables, timelines, and priorities, effectively balancing multiple tasks to meet project deadlines and performance targets.
  • Develop automated tests and deliver high-quality software code to production within a short development cycle in the continuous integration and delivery environment.
  • Lead and estimate engineering efforts, plan implementations, and roll out applications integrating with cross-functional components.
