About The Position

SpaceX is developing Starlink, a global broadband internet system supported by a large satellite constellation, user terminals, gateways, ground infrastructure, and software. As a Software Engineer on the Starlink Network Monitoring team, you will design, build, and scale software that provides observability across the network. The systems you develop will support real-time alerting and generate performance and reliability metrics used to assess customer quality of service, track network health, guide engineering initiatives, and provide other critical insights. This high-impact role contributes to how SpaceX observes and operates the Starlink network.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, math, or another STEM discipline and at least 5 years of professional software development experience; alternatively, at least 7 years of professional software development experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Ability to work extended hours or weekends as needed for mission-critical deadlines.
  • Ability to work on call on a weeklong rotational schedule.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
  • Familiarity with streaming data platforms or high-volume data pipelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to own projects end-to-end and deliver reliable, high-quality software.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable, fault-tolerant data ingestion pipelines to consume high-volume telemetry streams from Starlink satellites, user terminals, gateways, and ground infrastructure in real time.
  • Develop frontend visualizations, interactive dashboards, and UI components that present processed data in clear, real-time views for monitoring teams and stakeholders.
  • Automate network monitoring operations to reduce manual effort and improve anomaly detection accuracy.
