About The Position

The Apple Services Engineering (ASE) Core Services team is looking for a Sr. Software Engineer to help build creative features that will enhance the experience of using services like App Store, Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Fitness+, and Apple Arcade for millions of customers worldwide. This role involves building and enhancing large-scale systems using distributed data stores with a strong focus on scalability and performance. You will collaborate with various cross-functional teams, model content metadata into catalog and editorial entities, and serve these entities worldwide through an online content system and offline feeds. You will also work on enhancing the online content system by integrating various technologies to push the boundaries of the CAP theorem and optimize performance. Additionally, you will help develop a data transformation platform using Big Data technologies to efficiently deliver updates to numerous consumers, including internal Apple partners like Shazam and Siri, as well as external partners.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field
• At least 8+ years of experience
• Experience leading complex engineering projects from inception to production
• Excellent communication skills
• Can effectively communicate complex ideas and make compelling arguments
• Effectively collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, collaborators, partners, etc.
• Enjoys deep technical and product discussions
• Has attention to detail and can context switch across multiple projects
• Can see the big picture, set a vision, and grow the team and platform in accordance to that vision
• Hands-on experience working on scalable web services and features that span multi-functional teams
• Exceptional analytical skills combined with a deep knowledge of data structures and algorithms
• Experience with NoSQL data stores like Solr, Elastic Search, Redis, Memcached, Cassandra, Voldemort, etc.
• Experience integrating messaging technologies like Kafka
• Experience with Big Data technologies like Spark and Hadoop ecosystem
• Experience with Java

Responsibilities

• Develop a data transformation platform by working with various Big Data technologies to optimally deliver millions of updates to hundreds of consumers in an efficient and timely manner.
• Work cross-functionally to understand content metadata needs and model metadata into cohesive, scalable entities.
• Mentor, guide, and motivate other team members.
