About The Position

CVS Health’s Adjudication & Client Experience Engineering organization is seeking a highly skilled Software Development Engineer to join their Application Production Support Team. This role provides Level 1–3 support for critical RxClaim business applications, ensuring the reliability, stability, and continuous improvement of systems serving PBM (Pharmacy Benefit Management) business customers. The Software Development Engineer will collaborate with fellow engineers, product, design, and operational teams to triage, troubleshoot, and resolve daily production issues, addressing application incidents, identifying root causes, implementing permanent fixes, and driving process improvements to reduce recurring issues. This work supports business continuity, customer satisfaction, and the overall operational excellence of digital platforms. In addition to support responsibilities, the role involves facilitating break fixes for existing codebases to improve application stability, scalability, and performance as membership and transaction volumes grow. This includes designing and implementing new features, contributing to technical architecture, and helping advance the engineering roadmap across adjudication and client experience systems. The position requires strong technical expertise, solid problem-solving skills, and effective collaboration in a high-demand production environment, guiding technical direction, contributing to engineering innovation, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality digital solutions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in application production support (Level 1–3), incident management, and troubleshooting of enterprise systems.
  • 5+ years of Software Development Engineering experience using RPGILE, SYNON, COBOL, CL, QUERY400, SQL, Aldon, Hawkeye, X-Analysis.
  • 2+ Experience with distributed systems, APIs, databases, and cloud technologies (Azure and GCP)

Responsibilities

  • Provide Level 1–3 application production support for RxClaim business customers, including monitoring, incident resolution, and proactive system health checks.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot complex application and systems issues; perform root cause analysis and implement long-term corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, QA, operations, and business teams to ensure timely and accurate resolution of production incidents.
  • Code fix, optimize, and improve existing codebases to enhance system reliability, stability, and scalability.
  • Perform debugging, and validation across distributed application environments.
  • Handle Job failures, Batch processing, Job scheduling, and queues in AS400 Environment.
  • Participate in on-call rotations as needed to support critical production services.
  • Contribute to the technical roadmap, driving innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering ecosystem.
  • Document solutions, operational procedures, and knowledge-base articles to support cross-team learning and operational excellence.
