About The Position

The Software Development Engineer implements cost-effective technology solutions by creating new and modifying existing software applications that support RMC’s business. The role develops information systems by studying operations and designing, developing, and installing software solutions. The ideal candidate prioritizes effectively, communicates clearly, consistently delivers, and demonstrates strong software engineering skills. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
At least 7 years of software lifecycle development experience.
Strong experience with .NET, C#, Visual Basic, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, Python, and Django.
Experience working in an agile environment.
Experience with mission-critical, 24x7 systems.
Experience with professional software engineering best practices across the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
Fluency with functional, imperative, and object-oriented languages.
In-depth knowledge of relational databases such as SQL and Oracle.
Ability to write clean, readable code.
Proficiency with code versioning tools such as GitHub and Bit Bucket.
Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server.
Familiarity with continuous integration.
Must pass a drug screen and other pre-employment screenings.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to adjust to a rapidly changing work environment.
Ability to work collaboratively, stay self-organized and execution-driven, and multitask.

Nice To Haves

Graduate degree and/or technical certifications.
Previous experience in the consumer finance industry.
Financial services background.

Responsibilities

Develop software solutions by studying information needs, conferring with users, examining systems flow, data usage, and work processes, investigating problem areas, and following the software development lifecycle.
Evaluate analysis, problem definitions, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions to determine operational feasibility.
Document and demonstrate solutions using documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear code.
Prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
Improve operations through systems analysis and recommendations for changes in policies and procedures.
Maintain job knowledge by studying development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining professional networks; and participating in professional organizations.
Protect operations by keeping information confidential.
Collect, analyze, and summarize development and service issues to provide information.
Complete related work to support engineering and organizational objectives.
Support and develop software engineers through advice, coaching, and educational opportunities.
Develop software that users need.
Mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
