About The Position

This is an opportunity to work at RBC Insurance Active Data Platform team with a group of technology specialists dedicated to deliver solution to Insurance business and clients. We are all in with Agile development, DevOps, Open Source, Software as a Service (SaaS) and modern tools and processes. You will have an opportunity to make a real difference by working on some impactful and meaningful projects. We are looking for skilled Software Engineer who is passionate about full stack development and can bring a depth of application development experience including Front-End Web development leveraging SaaS products, full stack projects development and production maintenance. Our applications are used by RBC staff and clients making your contributions highly impactful and visible, directly contributing to the success of RBC. We deliver digitally enabled applications that are both internal and internet facing. We build stable web, and back-end applications which are resilient, scalable and high performance that avoids failure and focused on delivering best client experience. We continuously update our tech skills and upgrade our platforms to match industry standards.

Requirements

  • Working experience of design and implement websites using WordPress creation tool (with Gutenberg) and has managed site with WPVIP
  • In-depth knowledge of front-end programming languages including PHP, HTML, CSS framework like Tailwind, JavaScript
  • Has technical Search Engine Optimization (SEO) experience – understands concepts and the importance of things like redirects, meta tags, site speed/core web vitals, canonicals.
  • Good understand of website architecture and aesthetics.
  • Can clearly articulate and communicate with business partners and other IT teams
  • Team player and share knowledges through technical demos and documentations
  • Strong Understand of GenAI tools and/or Agents used to assist in application development (Github Co-pilot, Windsurf, Claude Code)

Nice To Haves

  • Technical knowledge of Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) – understands concepts and how GenAI search can impact marketing sites.
  • Knowledge of common GenAI technologies and implementation patterns.
  • Knowledge of modern SaaS platforms for SRE, Platform analytics, monitoring, UX, and management
  • Knowledge of DevOps and code versioning tools including Git, Github Actions

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the RBC Insurance Data Office to understand the project requirements in order to begin design/build and implement solutions leveraging appropriate infrastructure (new or existing)
  • Customizing CMS platforms and building websites and web applications using CMS platform including WordPress and Adobe CMS.
  • Work closely with business in managing the website content effectively, designing and implementing new features, functionality, establishing and guiding the website’s architecture and managing all technical aspects of the CMS including performance and capacity measurements.
  • Follow coding best practice, ensure code quality, performance, conduct code reviews ensuring our applications are scalable, testable and maintainable.
  • Collaborate with other team members.
  • Ensuring the operating efficiency of existing application systems, maintaining records for the documentation of systems development and revisions
  • Stay current and competitive by keeping up to date with the latest platform capabilities, security, performance and industry trends
  • Owner of the application, lead the production implementation process, participate in post-implementation reviews, sharing knowledge and support the applications in production.
  • Monitoring production website performance and proactively identify issues
