Sr Software Developer (Platform Engineer)
About The Position
The Sr Software Developer (Platform Engineer) role focuses on building and maintaining components for large-scale infrastructure, including database systems, distributed queues, and deployment platforms. This position involves making changes in mid- to large-scale distributed systems (around 10,000 servers) and managing their end-to-end lifecycle. The role requires proactive maintenance through extensive use of monitoring, logging, and metrics dashboards, and collaboration with the core infrastructure team to diagnose and resolve issues. A significant portion of the work involves infrastructure and data tasks, with a focus on software and data engineering profiles. Responsibilities include monitoring and maintaining the health of various infrastructure services, data pipelines, and build streams, providing on-call support during business hours, assessing urgency, and escalating issues as needed. The role also entails working on infrastructure tasks, bugs, and items related to infrastructure health and efficiency, often stemming from monitoring alerts.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Python
- Familiarity with data systems, ML pipelines, and distributed databases
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain components based on large-scale infrastructure (e.g., database systems, distributed queues, deployment platforms)
- Make changes in mid/large scale distributed systems (order of 10k servers) by handling end-to-end life-cycle
- Proactive maintenance through extensive use of monitoring, logging and metrics dashboard
- Work with core infra to diagnose and resolve issues
- Monitor and maintain health of various infra services, data pipelines and build streams
- Provide on-call support during business hours
- Assess level of urgency and escalate to core team, if necessary
- Work on infra tasks/bugs
- Work on items related to infra health and efficiency
- Binary packaging and distribution
- Build and CI/CD
- Miscellaneous operational tasks related to build and third-party modules
