About The Position

The Senior Software Design Engineer is an experienced Electrical Engineer responsible for optimizing transformer design, with a strong focus on software development. The role uses transformer design expertise—particularly for distribution transformers designed to IEEE, IEC, and CSA standards—to create high-quality design programs for Engineering, Production, Sales, and the broader enterprise. It also involves integrating design programs with multiple ERP systems to support seamless data transactions and workflows. This position is onsite in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Relocation assistance is available.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
More than 5 years of experience in electrical engineering and software development, with software development as the primary role and knowledge of transformers or related product design.
Proficiency with design and analysis tools, including electrical and thermal analysis software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and ANSYS.
Familiarity with industry standards, including IEEE, IEC, and CSA, and regulatory requirements for transformers or components.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working in cross-functional teams.
Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
Experience developing and integrating software with multiple ERP systems for enterprise use.
Strong background in programming languages such as VB .Net, C#, C++, and SQL, and database management tools such as Query Tool (using ODBC) and MySQL.
Basic knowledge of web page programming languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Ability to quickly learn new tools and systems, including ERP platforms.

Nice To Haves

Proficiency in all previously referenced software development tools and languages.
Experience in SQL database architecture, including IBM Db2 and SQL Server.
Web development experience in full-stack, front-end, or back-end development.
Familiarity with manufacturing processes and production environments.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain software design programs for Engineering, Production, Sales, and enterprise-wide needs.
Use transformer design knowledge to design complex single-phase and three-phase applications.
Integrate design programs with multiple ERP systems for seamless data transactions and workflows.
Apply standards-based transformer design expertise, including IEEE, IEC, and CSA standards, and interpret customer specifications to ensure program accuracy and compliance.
Conduct engineering analyses to optimize product performance, cost, and efficiency.
Analyze design-related issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to improve product quality and reliability.
Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain teams to optimize software solutions and design workflows for production integration.
Participate in design software code reviews and provide technical input to ensure designs meet project and customer requirements.
Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes to keep software product designs competitive and compliant.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in the software design process.
Interact with, maintain, and update ERP system data related to engineering processes.
Write clear, scalable, and maintainable code using best practices and refactoring techniques.
Analyze user requirements and develop software solutions that meet or exceed user expectations.
Troubleshoot and debug software to support optimal performance and reliability.
Deploy, install, and test software solutions.
