Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology and 5 years of failure analysis or service engineering experience with internal combustion engines; or 9 years of failure analysis or service engineering experience with internal combustion engines
  • To be considered for this role you must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder

  • Excellent knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of internal combustion engines
  • Excellent mechanical or electrical knowledge of engines and tools, including their designs, controls, uses, repair, and maintenance, including major engine overhaul and the tune-up of diesel engines and components
  • Excellent ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
  • Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills, when problems are very complex
  • Excellent organizational, planning and follow up skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter with the strong ability to work extended periods without supervision

  • Knowledge of principles of hydraulics, physics and pneumatics
  • Maintain detailed records of daily activities in log books

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, troubleshoot and determine the cause of very complex product problems and concerns, through failure analysis and research, applying engineering principles
  • Oversee and perform field inspections of failed parts to identify primary cause and reduce future incidents.
  • Check component parts to assure conformance or non-conformance with specifications
  • Provide guidance, technical assistance and feedback to MTU designers and engineers on customer problems and needs. Including the design and implementation of experimental hardware
  • Oversee operation, maintenance, and repair of engines to ensure that parts, engines and equipment are installed and functioning according to MTU America specifications
  • Train field personnel, staff, OEMs and dealers on product and troubleshooting methods to increase service and support capabilities and provide technical assistance to resolve power train concerns
  • Verify results and quality of technician's work
  • Diagnose electronic engine control systems and troubleshoot these systems as they are applied in different applications
  • Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, write and update service manuals and bulletins, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information, based on field investigations
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications
  • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications
  • Conduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of engines, components, applications and systems.
  • Operate instrumentation and record test data
  • Design service tools for new and existing products
  • Keep company property clean, organized and operational
  • Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Integrity Code.
  • Perform special projects as required.
