About The Position

The Senior SAP S4 HANA Project Manager will support a global SAP project for a $33B global steel manufacturing firm. The project currently operates across Brazil and Mexico and focuses on Aftermarket process development and SAP ERP integration. The role is based in the USA, with a preference for candidates near Chicago, IL; Danville, IL; or Waukesha, WI, or elsewhere in the Midwest or East who can travel onsite occasionally. Travel is approximately 20% throughout the project lifecycle. The Project Manager will define project scope and manage plans, timelines, budgets, and milestone delivery. They will coordinate cross-functional teams spanning IT, operations, finance, and supply chain; communicate progress and strategic implications to senior leaders; manage risks and issues; and drive change management, process improvement, and adoption. The position also involves overseeing testing and quality assurance for SAP Logistics components, working with ABAP teams on enhancements, and supporting post-go-live knowledge transfer. Two senior SAP functional consultants will serve as local focal points, with broader finance and logistics experience, and the role will work with a separate team and a FICO Lead.

Requirements

Typically, a university degree and at least 10 years of relevant SAP experience; or an advanced degree in a related field and at least 7 years of experience; or, without a degree, 14 years of relevant experience.
Experience leading large-scale projects and complex initiatives related to Aftermarket operations, SAP ERP systems, and related fields.
Experience supporting cross-functional teams and providing regular project updates to executive leaders.
Ability to travel approximately 20% throughout the project lifecycle.
Strong business analysis and problem-solving skills.
Excellent stakeholder communication and workshop facilitation abilities.
Ability to work in Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery models.

Nice To Haves

SAP Certified Application Associate certification.
Strong background in Logistics and Supply Chain with SAP S/4HANA.
Previous experience in large-scale automotive, steel, or manufacturing sector services.

Responsibilities

Develop and manage project plans, timelines, budgets, scope, and milestones for Aftermarket process development and SAP ERP integration.
Ensure Aftermarket processes are integrated into SAP ERP and aligned with business needs and strategic objectives.
Collaborate with cross-functional IT, operations, finance, and supply chain teams.
Communicate project status, accomplishments, challenges, benefits, and strategic recommendations to VPs, senior leaders, and executive leadership.
Identify, manage, and mitigate risks and issues related to Aftermarket MRO tool execution processes and SAP ERP implementation.
Ensure Aftermarket process maps align with industry best practices and regional project needs.
Lead change management initiatives to support adoption of new systems and processes by Aftermarket teams.
Use SAP S4 technology to identify process-improvement and workflow-optimization opportunities; recommend best practices and drive continuous improvement.
Manage relationships with SAP ERP vendors to support high-quality solution delivery.
Maintain compliance with regulations and data security standards.
Define and track KPIs for SAP S4 initiatives and provide regular updates to senior leadership.
Foster teamwork, mentor project teams, and promote knowledge sharing, innovation, and accountability.
Prepare functional specifications and work with ABAP teams on enhancements, user exits, and custom reports.
Lead unit, integration, and UAT testing for Logistics (SD, MM, and LE) and related components.
Ensure compliance with global logistics best practices.
Provide post-go-live support and knowledge transfer to internal teams.
