About The Position

The Senior Sales Engineer is a critical technical resource within the sales organization, responsible for supporting the sales team in designing and presenting tailored solutions to prospective and existing clients. This role combines deep technical expertise with strong communication skills to translate complex requirements into compelling solutions. The Sr. Sales Engineer works closely with the Sales organization to ensure proposed solutions meet client needs, align with company capabilities, and support long-term success.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Technology, Security Technology or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a technical sales, pre-sales engineering, or solutions architect role.
  • Technical certifications in Enterprise-level VMS and security systems.
  • Present technical solutions to clients in a clear, consultative manner, addressing both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor throughout the sales cycle, from initial engagement to post-sale handoff.
  • Ability to build and deliver ROI and total cost of ownership business cases.
  • Must be able to communicate and present effectively to a wide variety of people (both internally and externally).
  • In order to be successful, must be able to clearly understand client’s needs and effectively articulate these needs internally and offer the client the best solution.
  • Must have proven ability to effectively follow through on problem resolutions.
  • Must be able to maintain both company and client confidential information.
  • Position demands someone with a level of integrity

Responsibilities

  • Operating at the enterprise level, this role engages in complex opportunities involving sophisticated technology, clearly articulating the value proposition and business case for investment.
  • Responsibilities include guiding the decision-making process between proposed solutions and competitive alternatives by delivering thorough analyses of benefits, business impact, ROI, and total cost of ownership.
  • This individual must balance deep technical expertise with strong presentation and communication skills, effectively engaging in client-facing discussions at a level comparable to sales professionals.
  • Success in this role requires the ability to collaborate across vendors and internal Vector teams to develop and deliver accurate, comprehensive solutions.
  • Additionally, the role involves navigating both internal and external resources to gather critical information, often within loosely structured pre-sales environments.
  • The individual is expected to drive key pre-sales activities, shaping deliverables, managing pricing and concessions, leading demonstrations, and coordinating pilot or test installations as needed.
  • This role collaborates extensively with cross-functional teams, including product development, procurement, product design, technical support, internal sales engineering, and training.
  • It requires a high level of technical acumen, combined with the ability to operate effectively in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
  • The individual must be comfortable delivering sales presentations and participating in client discussions while on the move.
  • Support internal training efforts by sharing technical knowledge and best practices with the broader sales team.
  • Assist in developing technical sales tools and resources.
