About The Position

Role and Responsibilities Meet with assigned account(s) client personnel on a regular basis to establish relationships through “lunch and learn” meetings and/or other means of engaging with client personnel. Meet with ops and client safety representative(s) and participate in client HSE meetings as needed. Travel to client location(s) as assigned to be visible and provide HSE support. Review daily logs, JSAs, Permits, Audits and other Safety related paperwork including equipment inspections and tool color coding for compliance. Verify status of any applicable Corrective Actions and report any variances to Regional HSE Manager or Representative Provide HSE guidance related to any issues or conditions that exist onsite, as required. Coach and mentor personnel on the “how” and “why” benefits of working safely. Actively assist with and participate in the JSA meeting(s) and other HSE related meetings with crew(s). Promote BSK program and provide recognition “atta-boys” and swag as directed. Conduct the pre-Job and Site walk and site audits with employees, the Supervisor, PM or client personnel, as required. Discuss specific hazard mitigation based on Yellow Card feedback with Site Supervision. Collect, review and forward “Notable” Yellow Cards to PM and HSE Regional Manager or Representative. Report all incidents to the HSE department and assist local ops management to complete required post-incident steps. Initiate, conduct and manage incident investigations under the direction of the Regional HSE Manager or Representative. Forwarded reports to Regional HSE Manager or Representative as directed. Ensure overall compliance with Thorpe, Client, and regulatory agency requirements. Conduct employee and supervisor training onsite and at the office / warehouse / shop, as required. Meet with Regional HSE Manager or Representative regularly to discuss site safety performance and communicate any unresolved issues. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize job duties, and work in a fast paced, sometimes hot or dusty environment.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of current construction and general industry safety regulations and the ability to analyze and interpret this data for the safety of employees, job sites, and the branch or region.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills to effectively coach, train, motivate, and communicate with employees, supervisors, and client personnel.
  • Strong computer skills particularly in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to obtain additional certifications as required.
  • Be a coachable, team player.
  • 3-5 years safety experience in an industrial setting and be familiar with CFR 29 1910/1926 regulations.
  • OSHA 30 certification or higher required
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving history
  • Satisfactory criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

  • MSHA 48 certification/experience preferred
  • CSST (NCCER 100-hour course) preferred
  • College Degree (other degree), preferred.
  • CPR FA BBP Certification, preferred.
  • TWIC card, etc.
  • Experience in the industrial construction industry, preferred.
  • Experience in presenting training materials in a group setting.
