About The Position

The Sr. Safety Manager plans, organizes, and evaluates the occupational health and safety program for a single mega project or provides oversight across all projects in a Division. The role develops and implements safety procedures, practices, trainings, and initiatives aligned with the Company’s core Health and Safety program. It oversees incident tracking and reporting, safety orientations and toolbox talks, project safety training and equipment needs, hazard analyses, investigations, corrective actions, and injury resolution. The position also provides technical expertise on high-risk or complex safety issues, supports equipment procurement and maintenance, presents project status and trend analysis at District Operations meetings, and supports Company values, strategic plans, and published corporate policies.

Requirements

20+ years’ experience in construction or safety.
10+ years’ experience managing construction or safety teams.
Experience in diverse, complex, and high-risk construction projects.
Required company Safety certifications.
Proven leadership skills, with consistent and clear expectations communicated to direct reports and project stakeholders.
Ability to communicate the safety program to senior Company leadership and to speak and present effectively to project Owners, regulatory agencies, and internal senior leadership.
Proven ability to identify and mentor direct-report safety professionals, assign tasks, and provide training to build a strong, balanced internal team.
Ability to provide training and learning opportunities for construction teams based on expert safety knowledge and standard safety principles.
Expertise identifying onsite project safety risks and developing innovative, compliant mitigation strategies consistent with the safety program and agency requirements.
Expert knowledge of construction site equipment, methods, and processes.
Expert knowledge of regulatory compliance, industry trends, and upcoming agency regulations that could affect the Company and project production.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s Degree in Health & Safety or a related field preferred.
Experience developing and implementing health and safety initiatives preferred.

Responsibilities

Oversee the safety program and procedures for a single mega project or all projects in a Division.
Develop division-wide or mega-project-specific safety procedures and practices.
Implement safety trainings and initiatives aligned with the Company’s core Health and Safety program.
Review project trend analysis to ensure accurate tracking of accidents, injuries, fires, property damage, and other safety-related incidents.
Oversee creation and implementation of safety orientations and trainings, and oversee project site toolbox talks within designated timeframes.
Direct project site training, equipment needs, and inspection requirements to support the construction schedule and promote cost savings.
Complete additional assignments as directed by management.
Support safety equipment procurement and maintenance needs for direct reports, as needed.
Provide technical expertise on high-risk or complex safety issues, as needed.
Review project status and trend analysis reports for presentation during District Operations meetings.
Oversee injury reporting and resolution for the entire project site.
Review investigation documentation and corrective action plans to ensure appropriate mitigation strategies are implemented onsite.
Review and approve Daily Hazard Analysis (DHA) documentation from direct reports and personal daily documentation for accurate and timely tracking of safety procedures.
Participate in Jobsite Hazard Analysis (JHA) discussions and documentation for the entire project plan.
Maintain knowledge of Flatiron’s company values and strategic plan.
Support published corporate policies.
