The Senior Safety Manager leads the safety function for a single Business Unit/project or multiple small Business Units/projects. This role oversees the successful implementation of the Gilbane Cares safety culture, develops project-specific safety plans, and ensures their distribution and understanding. The position involves conducting regular safety inspections, auditing and monitoring the implementation of safety plans, and analyzing trending reports to coach project teams in hazard identification and correction. The Senior Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring timely closure of safety items, assisting teams with corrective action plans, and identifying and providing relevant training. This role also ensures all incidents are investigated and documented per company policy, analyzes leading and lagging indicators, and provides direction to leadership on focus areas and trends. Additionally, the Senior Safety Manager provides development, support, and mentorship to other Safety Managers, supports business development in client pre-qualifications and presentations, and fosters professional safety relationships internally and externally. The role may involve assisting with tasks typically assigned to more junior positions, responsible for career development and coaching of team members, and fostering a positive and inclusive work environment. The Senior Safety Manager interprets and translates organizational strategy, ensuring team understanding of their role in accomplishing strategic goals, and collaborates closely with business development to ensure seamless integration with sales strategies.
