About The Position

Performs routine compliance activities related to research compliance, including human subjects, animal care, conflict of interest and/or export control. This position is reserved for use in departments that have institutional oversight of research. Texas Tech Health El Paso (TTEP) is not considering applications from individuals who require sponsorship for an employment visa, including those with H1B visas or those currently on student or postgraduate visas. Additionally, this position is not eligible for remote or hybrid opportunities. All work is required to be performed onsite at TTEP.

Requirements

• Two or more years of progressively responsible experience in research compliance or a related regulatory field.
• Experience conducting compliance audits, training development, or regulatory reporting.
• Bachelor's degree in job related field plus three years of related experience OR Combination of related education and or experience equal to seven years.

Nice To Haves

• Certified IRB Professional (CIP), Certified Research Administrator (CRA), Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) or similar credential preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist investigators, research staff, faculty, administrators, and students in meeting institutional, state, federal, and international regulatory compliance obligations; identify, interpret, and explain requirements affecting research conducted at the institution.
• Review, evaluate, approve, and monitor research projects for compliance; conduct institutional quality assurance (QA) audits and inspections, with a focus on exempt research.
• Assist with QA audits and inspections of non-exempt human subject’s research and clinical trials upon request.
• Maintain accurate records and data; prepare reports detailing observations, risks, recommendations, and compliance actions required.
• Provide expert guidance and consultation to research staff preparing exempt research.
• Help create, update, and maintain the institutional compliance education program promoting responsible conduct of research (RCR) and research integrity; assist in scheduling, coordinating, and supporting virtual and/or in-person training sessions for faculty, staff, and students in all areas of research compliance.
• Stay current with evolving regulatory requirements and organizational policies affecting research compliance, particularly in exempt research, and assist with disseminating updates to institutional stakeholders.
• Attend workshops, conferences, and seminars to maintain and advance knowledge regarding compliance review processes and research standards.
• Process and manage training requests from research personnel; assign and track completion of required trainings
• Manage documentation systems containing audit information and findings; proactively follow up with research teams to ensure corrective actions are completed.
• Assist with scheduling, communications, and documentation for research compliance committees and meetings.
• Assist with maintaining and updating the Research Compliance website, ensuring all information is current and accurate
• Coordinate with the TTU System Research Security Center and sister institutions to ensure compliance with export control and research security requirements.
• Assist with the Effort Certification process; communicate with investigators, effort coordinators, and Business Affairs representatives to ensure institutional compliance.
• Assist in creating, drafting, and designing the Office of Research quarterly newsletter; coordinate review and approval with the Office of Institutional Advancement.
• Communicate with Principal Investigators and research teams to ensure documentation of Protected Health Information (PHI) uses and disclosures in a timely and compliant manner.
• Adhere to all policies, procedures and practices (Regents Rules, TTUS, HSECEP OPs, etc.).
