About The Position

Itron is hiring a Sr. RF Design Engineer for its Wireless Hardware R&D team at its manufacturing plant in West Union, South Carolina. The role involves designing, modifying, and managing a product or group of products from definition and planning through production and release, serving as a central resource across design, process, manufacturing, test, quality, and marketing teams. The engineer contributes throughout the product lifecycle, including product maintenance and end-of-life decisions, applies new technologies and industry trends to product management, and helps ensure products meet specifications and quality goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Communications Engineering, or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of related industrial experience.
• In-depth understanding of electronic circuits, RF circuits, and microwave theory.
• Good understanding of RF systems and wireless communication systems.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree in a related field.
• RF certification experience.
• Experience with communication theory and digital signal processing.
• Experience with advanced modeling and simulation.

Responsibilities

• Develop new products, support existing products, and improve processes related to RF and communication design.
• Lead RF circuit design from concept to production for low-cost wireless communication products, including complete radio transceiver design and layout for RF power amplifiers, low-noise amplifiers, RF filters and matching, synthesizers, VCOs, and mixers.
• Conduct RF circuit measurements using laboratory spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and related equipment.
• Verify designs through analysis, simulation, and measurement; compare results with theory and document findings.
• Carry out field studies and system test activities.
• Provide design and project support involving project leadership, regulation, reliability, and component selection.
• Provide technical support to factory, service, and other internal departments.
• Coordinate and verify the work of technicians and CAD designers.
• May lead projects of limited scope.
