About The Position

The Senior Revenue Accountant is responsible for pulling together revenue data from various systems and teams, ensuring accuracy, and applying ASC 606 to contracts. This role involves end-to-end ownership of the revenue close process, including chasing inputs, holding teams accountable, documenting conclusions, and explaining results to Finance leadership. The ideal candidate will be proactive in identifying and fixing process issues to prevent future problems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with meaningful time spent in revenue accounting.
• Working command of ASC 606.
• Strong general accounting foundation: journal entries, account reconciliations, and a clear understanding of the trial balance, P&L, and balance sheet.
• Advanced Excel: pivot tables, XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, nested formulas, and comfort working with large data sets from multiple sources.
• Experience with a major ERP (SAP, NetSuite, Oracle, or similar) and Microsoft Office.
• Demonstrated ability to get information out of people who don't report to you — setting expectations, following up, and escalating without burning the relationship.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication: you can explain a technical revenue conclusion to a site operations manager and to a CFO, and both walk away clear on what it means.
• Ownership mentality — you treat the number as yours, chase loose ends, and don't wait to be asked.

Nice To Haves

• CPA or CPA candidate.
• Public accounting experience, or a mix of public and industry.
• Experience in logistics, transportation, 3PL, supply chain, or another multi-site service business.
• Multi-entity and multi-currency experience, including international operations and intercompany transactions.
• Exposure to private equity–backed reporting requirements or a formal internal control environment.
• Familiarity with BI and data tools (Power BI, Tableau, SQL) or with automating recurring reporting.
• Experience improving or implementing a revenue process or system.

Responsibilities

• Own revenue recognition across all service lines (warehousing, transportation, freight forwarding, and value-added services) in accordance with ASC 606, GAAP, and company policy.
• Review customer contracts, amendments, rate schedules, and non-standard terms to determine performance obligations, transaction price, and timing of recognition; document conclusions in clear technical memos that stand up to auditor review.
• Serve as the go-to resource for revenue questions from Sales, Legal, and Operations during contract negotiation.
• Maintain and improve revenue accounting policies and support internal controls.
• Drive the revenue portion of the monthly and annual close to a firm calendar: define what each contributing team owes, when it's due, and in what format, then follow through until it arrives complete and accurate.
• Coordinate inputs across Operations, Billing, Accounts Receivable, Sales, and international sites; escalate constructively when timelines or data quality slip.
• Prepare and review revenue journal entries, accruals, deferrals, unbilled revenue, and account reconciliations.
• Partner with Accounts Receivable to help resolve billing disputes that affect recognized revenue.
• Build and deliver the recurring revenue reporting package: revenue by customer, site, service line, and region, with variance analysis that explains the drivers rather than restating the math.
• Investigate unusual trends — volume vs. rate vs. mix — and bring findings to Finance leadership with a recommendation attached.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and management/investor reporting with revenue data and insight.
• Lead revenue-related requests during external audit and provide support for internal control testing.
• Deliver ad hoc analysis on revenue streams, pricing, and contract profitability.
• Identify the manual steps, reconciliation gaps, and handoffs that create rework, and drive fixes in process, system configuration, or reporting.
• Contribute to system and reporting improvements as Rinchem's finance tools and data capabilities mature.
• Stay current on accounting standards affecting revenue and assess the impact on Rinchem.
